Overview:

Under the supervision of the Security Manager, supervises and is responsible for operations and employees of the Communications department. Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards. The Communications Supervisor is the shift supervisor for the hospital/security communications. The Communications Supervisor may work days, evenings or nights on a consistently changing schedule if necessary. The shifts may vary in length at the discretion of the Security Manager or because of staffing needs. The Communications Supervisor is expected to be on call 24 hours a day and may be called into work at any time. The position of Communications Supervisor involves very complex emergency scene tasks and social interactions, which must be accomplished correctly without taking the time to reference procedures and policies. The Communications Supervisor must be able to make decisions quickly and confidently often in coordination with the House Supervisor, Administration and the Security Officer in Charge. The Communications Supervisor will assist with conducting drills on emergency preparedness, evaluate and write policies and procedures, attend meetings involving security communication interests, organize and lead shift meetings, address complaints and grievances with Security Manager, assist with interviews and hiring new coworkers, and oversee training of new communications officers, compile and evaluate call logs and call statistics. The Communications Supervisor will ensure that all appropriate on-call logs, call lists/directories, and dispatch logs are compiled accurately and timely. Will work with Safety Officer regarding Emergency Preparedness Performs duties and responsibilities in a manner consistent with our mission, values, and Mercy Service Standards.


Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous PBX experience preferred.
  • Required Education: High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Preferred Education: Some college and management experience preferred.
  • Other: Good oral communications, pleasant voice, good memory, good "people" skills, and computer literacy.
