Position Summary:
The Division of Finance and Administration (DFA) provides services and support to over 50,000 students, faculty, and staff with the mission of advancing UCI's brilliant future and the vision of becoming world-class campus partners. DFA serves the university as planning partners, problem solvers, and solution providers-striving to make it as easy as possible for people to get the services they need, when they need them. DFA Program Development & Execution (DFA PDE) serves the division as a trusted partner in strategic planning, operational guidance, and project management supporting divisional initiatives and campuswide projects. A primary objective is to drive operational improvements and streamline processes to align and enable the division's strategic plan, optimize resources, and maximize outcomes by collaborating closely with stakeholders, departments, and external partners to identify opportunities for innovation, implement best practices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Uses skills as a seasoned, experienced payroll professional with a full understanding of industry practices and organizational policies and procedures to coordinate payroll activities and issue resolution between DFA employees, departments, and the UCPath Center. Works on complex payroll expense transfers and position funding transactions where analysis of payroll funding discrepancies requires review and documentation of manual transactions in the UCPath system errors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions and provides cross-functional support of the Payroll Coordinator. Responds to ServiceNow inquiries on payroll and timekeeping related matters. Serves as Departmental Time Administrator (DTA) for all DFA units, including coordinating with supervisors and approving timesheets for exempt and non-exempt staff. Maintains and updates employee profiles in TRS (Kronos (WorkForce Ready & Telestaff) for Public Safety) for employee payroll on a biweekly basis and monthly basis in accordance with TRS deadlines

The expected pay range for this recruitment is $61,100.00 - $84,000.00 (Annual Salary). The Full Salary Range for the salary grade this position is assigned to is $61,100.00 - $107,100.00 (Annual Salary).

Required:
  • 5 or more years of experience required for this job working with represented (union) staff in a payroll management and subsidiary ledger environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Thorough knowledge of all UCI payroll processes, policies, and procedures; knowledge of organization-specific computer application programs (UCPath, KFS, KBM).
  • Thorough knowledge of organizational processes & procedures and possesses a strong understanding of organizational rules and regulations.
  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills; verbal, written and active listening communication skills.
  • Uses strong interpersonal and service orientation skills in interactions with customers and colleagues.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Problem solving, problem identification, reasoning skills and ability to develop original ideas to solve problems.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail.
  • In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team

Preferred:
Strong mathematical skills. Familiarity with UCI-DFA Collective Bargaining Agreements (CX, PA, SX, K9)
Special Conditions Required:
  • Must be able to work outside of regular scheduled shift and off hours work as needed.
  • Must have valid CA Driver's License and participate in DMV Pull Notice Program
  • Must be able to work in a hybrid model.
  • Must comply with UC Vaccine Policy
