Equus is a one-of-a-kind human services company offering services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, home care for seniors, as well as education, vocational training, and job placement for people of all ages and skill levels. We are also dedicated to helping end homelessness by providing shelter and housing assistance to those we serve. Right now, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Housing Navigator.

Job Description
  • Have knowledge of the homeless community and County demographics.
  • Implement and apply regulations to daily duties.
  • Exercise attention to detail.
  • Organize, prioritize, and complete a large volume of work within strict time deadlines.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with landlords and property management companies serving low-income families. Represent and promote the RHAP program throughout the community by educating them about the housing needs of identified program participants and the importance of supportive housing.
  • Assist families and individuals to establish and meet housing goals and identify appropriate steps towards achieving goals, including modifying goals as needed, and evaluation of progress. Coordinate and collaborate effectively with other service providers as needed to assist participants to reach their goals.
  • Promote values of self-sufficiency and empowerment throughout work with participants. Aid in the development of resource materials specific to neighborhoods/cities/counties where the families reside. This may include community-based referrals, housing and employment advocacy, implementation of service plans, educating participants about budgeting and financial management, and employment. Support client employment search and refer participants to appropriate resources.
  • Participate in various program meetings including case conference meetings and housing plan meetings in collaboration with other service providers. Attend all agency staff meetings and trainings, as well as department meetings and case conferences.
  • Maintain precise and accurate documentation of case management services, including participant files and entries into participant databases.
  • Maintain participant confidentiality and HIPAA requirements; maintain program standard of documentation of case management services; keep accurate records, files, correspondence, and statistics. Prepare reports and presentations as required.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate progress notes, files, and correspondences while maintaining confidentiality of tenants, staff, and organizational information always and exercise appropriate boundaries with tenants.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in human services field preferred or equivalent skills and experience
  • Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office, Email and Data Entry
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Driver's License and car with good driving record
  • Travel throughout the County
  • Must report to Escondido office for training and weekly meetings.
