Georgia Pacific's Naheola Mill at Pennington, AL has an opportunity for a Master Technician to work in the Converting work system. This position will work in a high energy, dynamic organization established on the principles of an ownership-based work system that is focused on the execution of reliability strategies. These positions work 12-hour rotating shifts, 6am - 6pm and 6pm - 6am and the starting pay is $28.81 per hour.

Our Team

Naheola Mill located in Pennington, Alabama, is a manufacturing site for the company's well-known consumer products business, producing a wide range of products for the consumer business, including Angel Soft bath tissue and Sparkle paper towels, as well as bleached paperboard used in Dixie paper cups and plates. The mill is the largest employer in the community with more than 900 employees and is engaged in supporting community outreach, workforce development and education.

What You Will Do

    • Lead the workforce in ways that are consistent with the MBM Guiding Principles and align with the Angel Soft Platform Vision
    • Serve as resource for platform technology and reliability resource for primary tech center or area of responsibility and provide leadership, coaching and guidance to the team
    • Identify hazards and validate controls that exist to mitigate risk and ensure a safe work environment is maintained
    • Understand individual capabilities of all team members and lead the efforts to identify and close gaps
    • Understand individual team members comparative advantages and deploy resources as needed to ensure maximum effectiveness of the complex
    • Understand overall reliability Vision and ensure that all team members understand their part and are executing the strategies as required
    • Understand overall Quality, Product Stewardship and Product Safety Visions and ensure that all team members understand their part and are executing the strategies as required
    • Seek and share knowledge with others for training and employee development

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

    • Experience inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the root cause of errors or other problems or defects
    • Experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing systems, equipment, and components
    • Experience working with mechanical and electrical systems
    • Experience using written learning and teaching instructional methods and procedures (i.e., giving instruction using SOP's or JHA's when training new employees or learning new procedures)
    • Experience with rewinding technology, web handling or packaging
    • Experience with Microsoft Office, and PC-based production reporting systems applications

What Will Put You Ahead

    • Experience in executing precision maintenance practices
    • Experience developing SOP material
    • Experience using communication skills to provide instruction and disseminate and receive business information to and from various audiences
    • Experience reading and understanding P&ID's (piping and instrumentation diagrams) and PLC logic (programmable logic controller)

This role is part of the collective bargaining agreement and the starting pay for this role is set at $28.81 per hour.
