HOURS: Monday through Friday 8:00AM to 5:00PM. Call required.

SALARY: $28.52/HR - $46.52/HR

BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Coordinate and participate in pediatric and fetal echocardiography services for Children's Hospital Cardiology Center.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Effectively apply knowledge of complex congenital heart lesions to echocardiographic imaging of neonates, pediatric patients, and fetal patients. Coordinate and monitor the daily operations of CHCC echocardiography lab and inpatient pediatric echocardiography. Assist with supervision of sonographers to ensure exemplary patient care and technical quality. Coordinate and implement orientation, training, cross-training, competency, and continuous education programs for CHCC sonographers. Lead quality assurance/continuous quality improvement procedures for echocardiography lab. Responsible for coordinating and maintaining echocardiography lab accreditation in accordance with Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC). Partner with Cardiovascular Service Line to maximize the effectiveness of ultrasound reporting applications and EMR. Maintain files and run reports as required. Coordinate and participate in care and maintenance of equipment with sonographers and biomedical engineering. Liaise with third-party vendors as required. Assist in the development of policies and procedures and communicate changes to staff. Collaborate and facilitate communication with physicians, nursing, referring providers, and other departments to achieve continuity of care for patients. Participate in committees or special projects as requested or assigned. Assist in coordinating clinical rotations in Ultrasound Services for University of Missouri students as needed. Participate in collecting data for research as required. May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

General supervision is received from the Practice Manager.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Supervision exercised over the ultrasonographers within the department.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate's degree in Biological Sciences or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired. RDCS certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS); or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS), or Advanced Cardiac Sonographer (ACS) certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI). Pediatric Echocardiography (PE) certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography within one (1) year of hire as a condition of continued employment in this job classification.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Fetal Echocardiography (FE) certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Experience in a teaching hospital or educational health care institution. Supervisory experience. Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This role also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
