Summary of Position

Under the supervision of Dr. Ellman and other senior staff, the research assistant will aid in collecting and managing data in a multi-site study aiming to identify biomarkers and associated predictors of clinical and behavioral outcomes in individuals at risk for psychosis and psychiatric comparison groups. The research assistant will be involved in data collection at all time points and will administer semi-structured clinical interviews and cognitive tasks, as well as be involved in the collection of biosamples, including EEG data, MRI data, and processing blood samples (e.g., centrifuging and storing in freezers, although blood will be collected by a phlebotomist). The research assistant will also assist lab staff with daily lab operations, such as recruiting participants, managing data, and supervising undergraduate volunteers. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working in a psychological research lab.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions of Position

Essential functions of the position include:

1) recruiting and running subjects through baseline protocol and supervising undergraduates who assist in carrying out the baseline protocol

2) contacting and scheduling participants for semi-structured interviews

3) assist in tracking study progress at Temple and ensuring that recruitment targets are met

4) administering semi-structured interviews and cognitive tasks

5) conducting MRIs, EEGs, and processing blood samples

6) documenting all research procedures

7) assisting in the preparation of annual progress reports

8) other administrative tasks as needed

C. Education & Experience:

Bachelor's Degree at the start date of the position (current undergrads in their last semester can apply) and at least one year of directly related experience, which can include volunteer experience.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Experience working or volunteering with individuals with mental disorders and/or similar vulnerable populations.

*Experience with one of the following programs or something comparable: SAS, SPSS, R, Qualtrics, Redcap, Python, and/or STATA.

*Experience with data management.

*Ability to work nights and/or weekends

Preferred:

*Experience with MRI, EEG, or psychophysiological assessments.

*Experience working with clinical populations (for example, clinical interviewing).
