Job Description:

EVENTS SALES MANAGER

Houston, TX

The Events Sales Manager reports to the Director of Operations and is responsible for sales channels, strategic initiatives, relations and support within the corporate, association and social group business segments. The Events Sales Manager will collaborate with internal and external partners to provide sales tools, marketing materials, resources, metrics, and analysis in order to drive occupancy, revenue and achieve strategic goals. This role serves as a key member of the Operations Team, interfacing with stakeholders and multiple internal and external partners.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain customer relations across directed sales channels to drive revenue and occupancy goals.

  • Proactively prospect to develop leads and respond to inbound leads from direct channels in a timely manner.

  • Partner with Events Managerand greater Operations Team to maximize sales, services, and operations of private event opportunities. Work within agreed upon processes to communicate and execute events within larger exhibit operations.

  • Attend, host and support customers at trade shows, missions, FAMs (familiarization trips), trainings and other industry events to promote Meow Wolf sales efforts, partnership opportunities, and brand awareness.

  • Solicit and secure corporate, association and social events. Follow all proper booking procedures to create equitable, clear contracts, event orders and invoices to communicate and execute high quality events.

  • Run private event operations from time to time as needed.

  • Promote awareness of Meow Wolf Houston (and other Meow Wolf exhibits as directed) through formal presentations and personal sales calls to sales channels while ensuring Meow Wolf brand values, culture and artistic vision is top of mind.

  • Develop and evolve vendor relationships within the events community to maintain highest quality partner offerings to event clients.

  • Work directly with Visit Houston, GHCVB, local hotel conference services/ sales teams, local/ regional/ national meeting and incentive planners, and DMCs to book private events into Meow Wolf Houston.

  • Target major inbound conventions with the objective of securing customer events and partnering with Admissions to assist in Group Ticket sales support.

  • Develop partnerships with local community partners through strategic sales channels to drive event business.

  • Support overall Event Team goals by being a strategic partner on space activation, event calendar management and participating in supporting operations and execution of take-over events or times of coverage needs.

  • Work with Events Manager, Marketing Campaign Manager and internal/ external teams to develop sales and marketing "tool kits", presentations and WOW site experiences for each assigned sales channel.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to create add-on experiences to drive revenue and satisfy market demands.

  • Research and monitor Meow Wolf Houston brand representation on all distribution channels and listings to maintain optimal brand standards and content. Ensure content is accurate and updated in a timely manner as additions/ changes are made.

  • Continually manage expectations of partners, senior management and internal departments through clear, concise communication and reporting.

  • Deliver regular reports of sales calls, pipeline, sales pace including analysis and evaluation of KPIs/ROI to meet revenue goals.

Required Qualifications:

  • 4+ years group sales experience in the venue, hotel or affiliated industry.

  • Experience giving in person multimedia presentations to groups of 5+.

  • Experience with tight and aggressive deadlines and ability to close business deals.

  • Experience managing multiple channels and initiatives simultaneously.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Local relationships in channels outlined including Visit Houston, GHCVB, local art districts, Chambers of Commerce and Houston Arts & Venues.

  • Participation in Meeting & Events Industry professional associations. i.e. MPI, NACE, ILEA, etc.

  • Meetings & Events industry professional designations. i.e. CMP, CSEP, CPCE, or CMM.

Work Environment and Physical Demands:

Work Environment:

This job operates in a variety of professional office, tradeshow and at home environments.Occasional work in an indoor setting with exposure to noisy environments, dim lighting, strong visual effects including strobing lights, special effects, fog machines and small and/or enclosed spaces.


Physical Demands:

  • Moving in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.

  • Remaining in a stationary position for prolonged periods.

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

  • Positioning or moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are primarily Monday through Friday, during traditional business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.


Supervisor Responsibilities:

This position does not require supervisory responsibility.


Travel:

Minimal travel is required for this position. Local outside sales activities required.
