Position description

The Quigley lab is a primarily computational group that studies how tumors develop resistance to cancer therapies. We are seeking a staff bioinformatician for projects that define how resistance to targeted therapy arises, and how genomic and epigenomic alterations determine which patients will benefit from a therapy. Recent projects from our group have been published in Cell, Nature Genetics, and Cancer Discovery (see https://quigleylab.ucsf.edu). The candidate will work in a collaborative environment to develop one or more projects using a combination of DNA, transcriptome, and epigenomics assays. Most of our data are unpublished. Current projects include single nucleus RNA & ATAC-seq analysis, perturb-seq, and spatial transcriptomics.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written)

Preferred qualifications

  • Strong command of using Unix
  • Probability & statistics for data analysis, particularly linear models and permutation
  • Prior experience analyzing DNA variation and RNA-seq. Experience combining transcriptomic and epigenomic analysis (one or more of ATAC-seq, ChIP-seq, or methylation data) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with molecular biology & cancer genetics concepts
  • Analysis of single cell transcriptomic data
  • Experience applying machine learning methods to interpret biological data
  • Prior experience applying bioinformatics to problems in cancer biology
