The Harper Lab at the Center for Gene Therapy at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) is focused on developing gene therapies for muscular dystrophies and neuropathies. We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and independent Senior Research Associate to join our energetic, diverse and innovative team. We do molecular, cellular, and in vivo work. The ideal candidate will have experience in molecular biology and biochemistry (e.g. molecular cloning, western bloting, qPCR, various in vitro assays, and cell culture), as well as show talent or promise in scientific writing. Pre-clinical work in animal models may also be needed. This person will develop and validate new protocols for in vitro and in vivo experiments and will be responsible for training and directing junior lab members. A strong candidate will also have outstanding organization skills.

Master of Science degree with one to two years of laboratory research experience OR Bachelor of Science degree with two to three years of laboratory research experience OR certification and experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.

• Assists in the preparation of scientific publications and grant proposals
• Coordinates meetings and ensures effective communications with study consultants, co-investigators, and team members
• Prepares study applications for the local regulatory committees, and ensures projects are in compliance with federal and institutional policy
• Collaborates with other research team members (at NCH and other research institutions) and provides training/technique support to other staff as needed
• Performs miscellaneous related duties as required
