Job Description

The Managing Editor and Lead Content Strategist will build a content engine that aligns with business objectives and the company's long-term strategy, serves both internal and external audiences, and ensures consistency in company style and brand. Responsibilities of this position include developing a content strategy that spans planning, creation, review, and approval, as well as distribution across all Albemarle-owned communication channels. This role will focus on using data-driven insights to continually optimize the strategy, so we are delivering the right message to the right audience at the right time.

Your Core Responsibilities

  • Build and lead a comprehensive content strategy that drives key company-wide initiatives and serves the corporate brand and business units.

  • Form partnerships and gain alignment with key stakeholders across the organization to better understand business objectives and facilitate the content development process.

  • Identify opportunities to improve content, channels or tactics; proposing and developing solutions.

  • Create high-quality, compelling, and on-brand written content, including newsroom articles, web site content, brochures, presentations, social media posts, town hall content, speeches, interview talking points and more.

  • Supervise Social Media Manager to elevate and execute best-in-class social media strategy.

  • Write and edit content as needed; serve as final approver on all content.

  • Develop and maintain editorial content calendar for the Communications team that aligns to business objectives.

  • Lead weekly editorial meeting to ensure all content meets deadlines and takes advantage of omni-channel distribution.

  • Provide editorial functions, such as ensuring consistency in tone, style, clarity, and alignment with the company values, brand and strategy.

  • Ensure that content aligns with SEO best practices and is optimized for search engines.

  • Collaborate with web and social teams to monitor and analyze content performance, adjusting strategies.

  • Collaborate with the Social Media Manager and graphic designers to create visually appealing and cohesive content assets.

  • Stay informed about industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to inform content strategy.

  • Deliver content strategy insight reports that continually inform the development and distribution of content.

  • A superior writer well-versed in AP-style

  • Someone who works well under pressure with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and deadlines

What You Bring

  • Superior writing and verbal skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills; collaborative; confident and comfortable when working with executive stakeholders

  • People leadership experience.

  • Broad understanding of how content enhances brand identity

  • Experience working cross-functionally and collaboratively

  • Ability to bring together multi-channel, integrated programs to amplify content

  • 12+ Experience working in communications, public relations or external affairs.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in English, journalism, communications, or marketing

Travel

  • 5%. This individual will be based in our corporate office in Charlotte, N.C; weekly hybrid framework.
