The University of New Mexico is seeking an HR Tech to join the Department of Dental Medicine. The Department of Dental Medicine has a primary mission of delivering education and a full spectrum of clinical care.

The Department of Dental Medicine at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for a full-time HR Tech to prepare, manage and coordinate all department and division staff and faculty replacements, new hire requests and temporary part time/ volunteer faculty requests. The individual will administer the day to day provider and insurance credentialing and privileging activities for all dental providers. The individual will also serve as the department liaison with the Health Sciences Clinical Affairs, Health Sciences Faculty Contracts, UNM Human Resources, Credentials Verification Office, and Office of Clinical Contract Services. We seek a dynamic, highly organized individual who is interested in learning new systems and processes and can work independently but also take direction and work as a team. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a professional and positive attitude and communicate effectively with others.

The successful candidate will have excellent customer service skills that will be utilized for a high volume of email and telephone communications with onsite leadership and other departments. The ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment is essential. Must be able to handle a workload that may be heavy at times and with competing priorities and deadlines. Must be highly organized with excellent time management skills and have the ability to track and follow up on all replacement hires, new hires, and follow-up on all credentialing and privileging packets for the department to include maintaining the currency, quality and accuracy of all dental provider credentialing and privileging data. The ability to compose memos and emails and to perform business math calculations on own is important and must have the ability to routinely create word documents and excel worksheets to organize, analyze and present data. The ability to create and maintain employee files, credentialing and privileging file system, both electronic and paper is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Reviews and verifies incoming and outgoing documentation for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with established policies and procedures and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Performs specialized technical tasks, such as pre-posting dialogues, first level screening/interviewing of applicants, preparation of vacancy announcements, surveys and statistical analyses, and/or participation in informational presentations, as appropriate to the department's operational objectives.
  • Prepares documents and composes correspondence, as required, on specific policy and procedural issues.
  • Gathers information, conducts basic data analysis, and assists in the development and reconciliation of reports.
  • Performs specific research/investigation into operational issues, as requested.
  • Provides assistance and coordination in the development and maintenance of specialized human resources data bases, enterprise resource planning systems computer software systems, and manual filing systems.
  • As appropriate to the work requirements of the unit, may coordinate and monitor the continuous recruitment process.
  • Participates in the investigation and resolution of HR issues within area of expertise; serves as the primary liaison with external agencies in the resolution of specific employee concerns, as appropriate to the focus of the role.
  • Participates in the planning and coordination of specified HR programs and initiatives for faculty and staff.
  • Participates in and may deliver presentations at special outreach activities such as fairs, employee orientations, and/or applicant consultations.
  • May participate in the development and recommendation of operating policy and procedural improvements.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or equivalent
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines and create timelines
  • Records maintenance and database management skills.
  • Skill in use of personal computers and related software applications.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze informational needs, and provide technical advice and guidance in area of specialty.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
