MISSION:

To drive company tractor trailer, flatbed or combination vehicles and other trucks between PCC plants, vendors, and outside processors to pick up and deliver parts, supplies and equipment in a safe and timely manner. This is a day shift position, 6am to 2:30pm Monday through Friday servicing PCC facilities in the Portland area.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1.Deliveries
Objective: to pick up and deliver parts, supplies materials, metals, and equipment in a timely basis.
Essential Job Functions

A. Picks up and delivers parts, manufacturing supplies and other materials between PCC facilities, vendors, and outside processors.
B. Inspects all items to be transported to assure they can be safely moved; must refuse to move any unsafe items.
C. Secures all loads to prevent shifting, spillage, and damage during transport.
D. Transports hazardous chemicals/materials which are placarded and follows all procedures for handling hazardous materials. Must have current OSHA Haz. Mat. Emergency Response training\certification.
E. Loads and unloads trucks at the receiving docks. Operates forklift to load or unload as needed.
F. Must be available for overtime work for occasional after-hours and weekend runs.

2.Maintenance and Warehousing

Objective: to maintain vehicles in good working order and assist with warehousing duties as needed.

Essential Job Functions:
A. Performs and is responsible for minor maintenance and repair of vehicles; reports mechanical problems or safety hazards to supervisor and on vehicle inspection sheet; is responsible for the condition and cleanliness of the truck and trailers.
B. Performs general warehousing duties when not completing deliveries or when assigned; stocks materials, pulls requisitions, marks material, cycle counts, performs inventory, cleans, and sweeps warehouse, empties dumpsters, etc.

3. Safety

Objective: to take responsibility for and demonstrate safe work practices.

Essential Job Functions:

A. Adheres to all Federal and State laws and regulations.
B. Adheres to PCC and department safety rules.
C. Safely operates all vehicles, machines, and equipment.
D. Identifies and reports safety problems.
E. Does not move unsafe loads.
F. Completes pre-trip/post trip vehicle safety inspections at beginning and end of each shift; completes and turns in inspection form.
G. Assures trucks are equipped with necessary safety equipment.
H. Assures tire tread is within regulations.
I. Log vehicle mileage (daily)

4. Regulatory Compliance

Objective: to operate vehicles within state and federal regulations and to comply with all required licensing, training, and safety regulations.

Essential Job Functions:

A. Operates vehicles under Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including standards for Commercial Driver Licenses; maintains current written, road and medical certifications, and Haz. Mat. Emergency Response certification.
B. Maintains satisfactory driving records; certifies driving record annually to supervisor, reports any traffic violation convictions or loss of license privileges immediately to supervisor; reports all accidents immediately to supervisor.
C. Receives training and follows all regulations regarding transport and handling of hazardous materials.
D. Complies with federal and PCC regulations regarding drug/alcohol testing in transportation industry.
E. Reports all incidents regarding hazardous materials as required by federal and state regulations.
E. Interacts with PCC, vendor and customer personnel in a courteous, professional manner attaining exemplary customer service.
F. Completes logs and records.

OTHER (MARGINAL) ACCOUNTABILITIES

A. Performs other tasks as directed.

ESSENTIAL EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, TOOLS AND/OR MACHINERY USED:

1.Trucks (semi's, cabover vans, delivery vans, reefer units, trailers up to 53' and flatbeds.)
2.forklift

5.hand truck
6.basic hand tools (e.g., wrenches, pliers, etc.)

TRAINING

1.Route training is provided on the job.
2. Must have current Hazardous Materials certificate and previous handling experience.
3. Must complete Defense Driving Safety Training course for professional drivers.
4.PCC's Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed.
5.Must complete Absorb training.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. A valid Commercial Driver License (Class "A"), with the "Hazardous Materials" Endorsement or the ability to obtain the "Hazardous Materials" endorsement within 90 days of active employment, and at least 21 years of age.
2.A valid DOT Medical certificate, or passage of written exam prior to hire.
3. Passage of PCC road test and a valid DOT road test certificate.
4. A good driving record with emphasis on safety and a current Motor Vehicles Report.
5.Must be registered with the Drug & Alcohol Clearing House.
6.Previous commercial truck driving experience with a minimum of 3years driving tractor trailers, accident free. A professional driver training program will be considered.
7. Previous forklift experience.
8. Ability to interact and communicate effectively and courteously with company and outside personnel.
9. Ability to read, follow and interpret Hazardous Materials Specifications, examinations and logs and records.
10.Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, division.
11.Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
