Overview The Department of Social Work at Utah State University (USU) invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure track or clinical). Located at the USU flagship campus in Logan, Utah. This position will be an important addition to our faculty who are working to fulfill USU's land-grant mission through education, research, and community engagement.
This position is part of a unique partnership between Logan City School District and the Department of Social Work and will be instrumental in facilitating high-quality, advanced generalist training for students who are placed in the school setting and contributing to the overall success of our field program. As such the Department of Social Work seeks to hire an individual who has a strong practice background in school social work and a demonstrated track record in field supervision.
Position: This is a nine-month appointment with USU's social work program (MSW and BSW degrees) beginning August of 2024.
Tenure-track positions have a role assignment of 75% Teaching, supervising, and advising; 15% Research; and 10% Service. Tenure-track positions are renewed annually during the probationary period assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
Clinical-track positions have a role assignment of 90% Teaching, supervising, and advising; and 10% Service. Clinical-track positions are renewed annually, assuming acceptable performance of the role assignment.
Responsibilities
Teach courses in BSW and MSW programs, specifically the School Social Work course needed for the state credential
Advise undergraduate and graduate students
Supervise practicum placements
Engage in scholarship and/or professional productivity
Provide service to the department, college, and the social work profession
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Tenure Track:
An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
Two years post-MSW practice experience in criminal justice settings
An earned doctorate (PhD or DSW) in social work or closely related field at the time of appointment (ABD will be considered)
Clinical Track:
An MSW from a CSWE-accredited social work program
Two years post-MSW practice experience in a school setting
Preferred Qualifications:
Tenure Track:
Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
Teaching experience with online and distance education technology
A record of scholarly activity
Experience with practicum student supervision
4+ years of post-MSW practice experience in a school setting
Clinical Track:
Experience teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels
CSW or LCSW, or eligibility for Utah state licensure
Teaching experience with distance education technology
Experience supervising practicum students
4+ years of post-MSW practice a school setting
