Job Description

The Resilient Infrastructure and Supply Chain (RISC) Unit is looking for a Graduate Research Assistant (GA) for the Fall 2024 semester. The job duties include serving as a teaching assistant for Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP), as well as a research assistant for ongoing projects. For the VIP, the student will be required to actively engage with the research projects, participate and attend the general meetings once a week (online or in-person), participate in preparing lecture materials, project materials and presentations, and help with research team coordination, and grading the research project, following the VIP requirements.


The position also includes work with GTRI research faculty in ongoing research projects in data collection, data analysis, modeling and literature reviews. As a part of job responsibilities, the GA will help with building and setting up prototype installations when a project requires, project logistics, and attend research sites for ongoing research tasks. This might include sensors installation and data monitoring. The role also includes supervision of students and managing of sub-tasks. Preferred areas of expertise include Modeling and Simulation, Sustainability, and Healthcare analytics.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Graduate Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Master's degree or PhD at Georgia Tech in Engineering, Architecture, Public Policy, Sciences or related fields Must be registered for at least 12 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • Must be enrolled full-time (12 credit hours) during working semesters
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Commit to 10-20 hours of work per week
  • Background and skill set in modeling and data analytics
  • Experience with research methods, statistical analysis, and data collection
  • Skills in programming languages, and modeling and simulation
  • Ability to serve as a teaching assistant for Vertically Integrated Projects
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience and participation in the Vertically Integrated Projects (VIP) Program
  • Experience as a teaching assistant
  • Experience in 1 or more programming languages
  • Task / team leadership experience
  • Experience in the areas of sustainability and healthcare analytics
  • Experience with 3D modeling, spatial analysis, GIS, and Agent-based simulation
  • Ability to learn complex engineering concepts
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas
  • Ability to work in on-site data collection
  • Ability to build prototypes and physical models
