Job Overview

Under direction of the Facility Supervisor, the General Maintenance Worker will provide the daily maintenance operations and activities for all assigned facilities. The incumbent receives and evaluates work orders and requests, investigates requests or problems where appropriate and completes the necessary repairs.

This is an 11 month assignment

Payrate: $22.64/hourly


Responsibilities

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

  • Performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
  • Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
  • Plan, organize work, and meet all deadlines. Able to do a variety of tasks in any single day.
  • Coordinates with other trade personnel and the warehouse personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
  • Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
  • Able to inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
  • Supports and assists other staff as needed or directed.
  • Adheres to the established Chugach safety, personnel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Will be required to perform various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Mandatory:

  • High school graduate or equivalent GED.
  • At least two (2) years of experience performing maintenance in a Facilities environment.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Valid state driver's license with acceptable driving record.
