Job SummaryJob Summary

Applies basic and some advanced technical skills and knowledge in the fabrication of wire harnesses, control panels, test sets and repair items of the same operational capability and complexity that are used in operational aircraft and related equipment. Perform any of the detailed work operations required to be completed in these areas.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities

  • Performs fabrication and assembly of wire harnesses, control panels, test sets and other electrical items for aircraft applications using products and processes are varied but generally not complex in scope. The level of work performed requires some skill and experience.
  • Plans sequence of operations in fabricating and assembling wire harnesses using jig boards, work instructions, wiring diagrams and other information. Reads instructions such as work orders, diagrams, and wire lists to determine materials needed and sequence of assembly.
  • Selects wires of specified color, marking, or length, and loops wires between guide pegs on harness board, following color-coded lines or sequential numbers on board or diagram. Wraps and ties wires together at designated points to form harness.
  • Applies sealing liquid to secure knots in ties. Attaches ends of wires to components, plugs, or terminal strip.
  • Inserts cable in plastic tubing or injects plastic sealant around terminals to protect cable from dust and moisture. Tests wiring continuity with continuity tester. Marks identifying data on completed harness.

Performs other duties as required. These duties may include assignments in job classifications and departments other than the primary assignment.
Minimum QualificationsEducation Requirements

Minimum Vocational / Technical.

If applicable, a combination of experience and training may be substituted for the education requirement.

Experience Requirements

2-4 year(s) Aircraft electrical test equipment, control boxes or wire harness fabrication.

Skills and Competencies

  • Competency in the operation and use of electrical and electronic test equipment.
  • Reads and comprehends electrical wiring diagrams, schematic diagrams and technical manuals and applies the information to build and repair aircraft wire harnesses, control panels and test equipment.

Must be able to work in excess of eight (8) hours per day and five (5) days per week, if required. Additionally, those who work at NORDAM Repair Division must be able to ascend and descend stairs.

While performing the duties of this job, the Stakeholder is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment can vary from loud to a more moderate level.
