Vaco is actively seeking a Manufacturing Operations Manager for a customer located in the greater Rochester, NY area. This person will be fully on-site.

The Manufacturing Operations Manager will direct and manage all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, manufacturing engineering, maintenance, EHS and other plant related activities. Formulates plan and directs those departments responsible for planning, manufacture, and shipment of products. Areas of accountability include safety, quality, productivity, people, cost, AND delivery. Must exceed customer requirements for quality, cost, and delivery and improve facility profitability and growth.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Implement Lean manufacturing processes and best practices
  • Manage the areas of Lean techniques (continuous improvement), quality, cost reduction, delivery, safety, customer satisfaction and communications, employee relations, and plant performance measures.
  • Manage plant operations for production, planning, maintenance, quality support, safety, and shipping and receiving.
  • Supporting, participating in, and monitoring the performance of work teams from visual boards and directing the implementation of this plan across all functional areas to meet overall goals and targets for the facility.
  • Reviews analysis of activities, cost, operations, forecast data, and evaluate risk and preventative actions to determine progress toward goals and objectives.
  • Participate in development of required resources, responsibilities and evaluate the overall results
  • Ensures compliance with company standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and delivery.
  • Creates facility budget within guidelines established to meet operating targets and improvements for each year, and manages facilities with approved budget, communicating issues quickly and effectively.Communicates facility status regarding key targets, activities, and challenges effectively to company executives, local staff, and members.
  • Control of documented information, including record retention, per their Quality System.
  • Provides leadership in the area of employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training, empowerment, and development.
  • Identifies training needs and provides all associates with an opportunity to train.
  • Determines operations headcount needs and ensures compliance with company policies.
  • Develop and maintain an environment which encourages individual contribution and commitment to quality, output, and customer service.
  • Communicates, insures, and maintains all safety guidelines and standards are followed.
  • Ensures and maintains the quality guidelines, procedures, and standards are consistently followed throughout the manufacturing operation.
  • Consistently delivers quality products that meets customer's requirements on a timely and cost-efficient basis.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Years of experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience supervising people
  • 5+ years of experience in Lean Manufacturing
  • Knowledge in Labor relations,Budgeting and financial statements,Visual floor and management techniques is preferred
Certifications:
  • ISO 9001 & TS Certifications a plus
  • IATF 16949 a plus
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, management or a related field or equivalent experience in lieu of degree

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
