Description:
The Marketing and Communications Internal Communications team is seeking a collaborative, creative professional to fill the role of Strategic Communications Associate. This position will support the creation and execution of integrated communication and marketing strategies articulating key Campus Facilities projects that impact the campus at-large and further the university's strategic and operational needs.

Working closely with the Associate Director of Internal Communications and other team members, the Strategic Communications Associate supports communications coordination and advance messaging primarily on behalf of the Offices of Campus Facilities at the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO.

From routine maintenance on published materials to full-scale communication campaigns, and amplifying the stories of Campus Facilities staff, this resourceful contributor works toward the team's mutual success in delivering multi-channel communications plans and creative services to internal partners, as well as effective distribution to target audiences.

About Campus Facilities:
Campus Facilities includes many of the behind-the-scenes service departments that keep the campus operating. These include Energy Management and the MU Power Plant; Facilities Operations -- Custodial Services, Construction Services, Maintenance and Sustainability; Landscape Services and Mizzou Botanic Garden; Planning, Design & Construction; and Space Planning & Management.

Duties:
This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

  • Write about complex topics such as energy and construction feats for a general audience
  • Craft staff profiles and articles regarding one or more units, acting as a storyteller for internal audiences to positively impact university culture
  • Create content for e-newsletters
  • Write, edit and proofread internal communications and work with management to develop and execute communications plans
  • Develop, update and maintain website content
  • Research, develop and deliver communication materials for diverse audiences based on overall internal communications strategy
  • Assist in tracking and monitoring communications results and developing programs for continuous improvement
  • Connect and collaborate with colleagues to align messages across channels and address stakeholder needs while considering university culture
  • Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions and checks for understanding
  • Develops working relationships with internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed
Shift

8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, occasional early mornings or evenings possible

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field; two or more years experience in writing, editing.
  • Some knowledge of photography, design and social media skills
Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $24.04 to $26.44

Grade: GGS-009
