Job Description

The Opportunity:

This position serves as a senior member of the Registrar's Office leadership team and provides oversight over customer-service and student-facing functions. Functional areas of responsibility include residency reclassification, outbound transcripts, readmission, office reception and intake, verifications, and telecommunications. Serves on key university committees, participates in university initiatives, partners with offices in resolving student issues. Supervises staff and leads several teams. This position functions under the direct supervision of the University Registrar.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership and oversight for customer/student-facing services including: front desk and reception, residency, readmission staff training the administrative record change petitions, medical withdrawals, and academic appeals.

  • Ensures that goals and objectives for the university and SUS are maintained in the academic record change process regarding undergraduate students.

  • Provides oversight and guidance in the development and maintenance of forms and website information for procedures related to academic petitions, residency reclassification, readmission , transient enrollment, verifications, name and other record changes. This includes hiring, motivating, and leading teams and delegate responsibilities where appropriate.

  • Collaborates with other senior leadership with the Registrar's Office to ensure effective and up-to-date training for staff.

  • Responsible for university committee work and liaison activities between administrative areas, the colleges and departments, and area college campuses as it relates to undergraduate issues regarding services, policies and academic petitions.

  • Participates actively as a senior member of the leadership team for the Office of the Registrar to prioritize internal projects and university wide strategies, engage in project assessment and planning, problem solving, assessment of tools, and decision making.

  • Works closely with University Registrar and other department leadership on recommending university policy or procedural changes.

  • Makes effective use of the Student Information System, reporting tools, degree audit, document management system, and workflow management platforms in managing student records and the delivery of service.

  • Serves as the lead for the department's assessment team and processes.

  • Responsible for oversight of the department's electronic intake processes for students or other visitors and accurate tracking of outgoing services using EAB Navigate or other comparable technical solutions.

  • Interpret and ensure compliance with academic policies, university policy, and state and federal regulations.

  • Ensure compliance, deliver training programs, and investigate matters related to FERPA.

  • Serves as one of the leads on the department's commencement team.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's and 6+ years of relevant experience or Masters degree and 4+ years of relevant experience with at least 2+ year(s) of leadership experience

or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Progressive management experience in higher education, preferably in an enrollment-services, advising or other student service role.

  • Expertise to lead teams and an open and collaborative leadership style.

  • Experience and confidence in serving as a manager and agent for change.

  • Experience in supervising full-time personnel.

  • Experience with PeopleSoft or other student information systems, degree audit systems, and degree planner systems.

  • Excellent communication, analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, students, and administrators and staff at all levels of the institution.
