This is a part-time faculty position for Spring 2024. This position will report directly to the ENGC Coordinator. The ENGC faculty will design courses for a student-centered environment and teach both developmental (non-transfer) and College Composition (transfer) courses. The specific courses taught will depend on student enrollment and instructional need. The ENGC faculty should have tutoring experience for all language skill areas: grammar, listening, speaking, reading, and writing is preferred. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Job Description

  • Comply with departmental and institutional policies for faculty
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across campus to meet needs of individual students and groups
  • Support both faculty and students in the ENGC labs
  • Remain current in the academic discipline
  • Attend college wide, division, and departmental meetings
  • Teach day, afternoon, night, or distance learning classes depending on student need
  • Teach at locations in Benton and Washington counties
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Regular, reliable and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others

Rate of pay: determined by faculty scale placement (education and years of experience)

Knowledge, Abilities, And Skills

1. Provide an integrated/academic study of English for a linguistically and culturally diverse population of students for whom English is not the primary language of the extended family.

2. Develop curriculum that follows the prescribed Course Outline for ENGC and prepares students for regular college coursework or career advancement.

3. Be present, on time, and prepared for each assigned class meeting.

4. Maintain student records and prepare required reports in a timely manner.

5. Meet all expectations for part-time faculty at the college.

6. Report directly to the ENGC Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

Minimum of a Master's degree in English or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer some graduate hours or certificate in TESL.
