The Conde Nast Studios team is looking for a Studio Manager for our Los Angeles production facility. The Studio Manager must have superior interpersonal communication skills and a positive attitude for a very client-facing department. In-depth knowledge of video, audio, monitoring equipment, LED lighting, strobe, and continuous lighting fixtures as well as grip spanning the worlds of video and photography is required. The ability to work various shifts is a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the daily operations of the Los Angeles studio production facility is maintained, clean, and organized. Includes studios, podcast studio, equipment rooms, and related production areas.

  • Works the "opening" shift of the day and ensures that all studio production areas (video/photo studios and podcast suite) are set for the day.

  • Maintains a studio production calendar and facilitates requests for studio and podcast room requests.

  • Direct management responsibility and decision-making for the team including, but not limited to: hiring, performance management, and employee evaluation.

  • Responsible for administering and communicating daily equipment requests for studio and location production.

  • Maintain an inventory list of available production equipment.

  • Coordinate technical production equipment rentals when necessary.

  • Distribute additional production equipment and related supplies upon request.

  • Coordinate messengers for the delivery and return of technical production equipment.

  • Ensuring rental and Conde Nast production gear is properly sorted and handed off to messengers when needed.

  • When necessary, ensure all equipment is returned and put away upon completion of production (studio and location). Batteries and phones are charged, media handed off for ingest.

  • Act as department on-site contact as needed.

  • Liaise with producers and production crew to ensure production protocols are followed.

  • Assisting clients with production logistics.

  • Troubleshoot audio, video, lighting, and photography production equipment.

  • Back up and assist the Studio Operations Coordinator when necessary.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • 2-4 years working in a studio environment or rental house

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills

  • In-depth knowledge of photo, video and related lighting and grip equipment.

  • Prior experience managing a small team.

  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a cross-platform team.

  • Proficiency in Photoshop, Capture 1, Pro Tools, Google family of applications (Docs, Sheets), and inventory management systems are a plus

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Work out of our Downtown Los Angeles office on a predominately morning to late-afternoon schedule
