Hood Preparation Technician

Restaurant Technologies Inc. is looking to hire a Hood Preparation Technician. This role is expected to clean kitchen hood, flue, and exhaust fan systems in preparation for the installation of Restaurant Technologies AutoMist system. Additionally, this role will occasionally support customer hood, flue, and fan inspections, as well as other various AutoMist installation activities. Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring customer kitchen hoods, flues, and fans are completely cleaned and free of buildup including vertical and horizontal flues.
  • The set-up and take-down of equipment including hanging plastic sheeting, mixing chemicals, setting up ladders, wet/dry vacuums, pre-sprayers, garden hoses, and high-pressure hoses.
  • Pre-scraping greasy buildup from affected areas of kitchen exhaust systems.
  • Pressure washing the interior of kitchen exhaust systems (fans, ducts, and hoods).
  • Final clean-up in kitchens by wiping down the hoods, mopping up the floors, etc.
  • Assist AutoMist Installation Technician with basic mechanical duties related to the preparation of installing our AutoMist system.
  • Using an iPhone to complete virtual reports with photos.
  • Independent completion of work projects with limited supervision.

Reporting and documenting mechanical deficiencies of customer and/or company equipment.

  • Maintain the cleanliness of company tools, equipment, and vehicles each night.
  • Compliance with internal processes and procedures as well as all local and federally regulated requirements including DOT, OSHA, and HACCP.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Be willing to drive a full-size company van or truck.
  • Must be 21 years of age with a valid driver's license.
  • Must meet Restaurant Technologies' Fleet Safety requirements and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Respond promptly to all calls from management.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening, physical and criminal background check.
  • Be dependable; able to show up on time, read and follow instructions.
  • Be physically fit; able to climb ladders, able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. at times.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and be able to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Be able to work flexible hours, nights, early mornings, and some weekends.
  • Be able to work safely in both hot, cold, and/or inclement weather.
  • Be able to complete work projects from start to finish with limited supervision.
  • Be fluent in English; able to communicate well with customers and other team members bilingual is a plus.
  • Be able to learn new procedures quickly to assist with the exhaust cleaning process.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience cleaning kitchen hoods and exhaust systems is strongly preferred for this position.
  • Commercial Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaner certification strongly preferred.
  • Previous mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pressure washing, janitorial cleaning is also preferred.

Location: The Atlanta RT Depot is located in the 30349 zip code area.

Salary: $30 per hour, based on experience.

Shift: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM EST
