The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Multimedia Operations, the incumbent's primary responsibility is to support the multimedia teaching, learning, and event needs of Columbia Business School. This includes managing electronic, phone, and walk-up communications utilizing an ITIL-based incident tracking system. The incumbent also assists the Technology Services Group team in coordinating the purchase of relevant technology as needed. As an AV Support and Infrastructure technician, the incumbent performs regular monitoring and maintenance of all AV infrastructure systems, executing diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance tasks as needed. They also participate in the training of faculty, students, and administrators in the use of these systems and their possible applications.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Columbia Business School's Multimedia Team to offer world class AV Infrastructure and IT support for teaching, learning technologies and clients. Schedules the team's assistance as needed.
  • Provides in-person, on demand assistance with AV, computing, and network systems in support of Columbia Business School's academic curriculum and events in classrooms, conference rooms, study rooms and event spaces. Responds immediately to troubleshoot and resolve reported issues.
  • Communicates with faculty, staff, and students through a variety of mediums, most notably via the MMG email, to ensure client service satisfaction and issue resolution.
  • Schedules recordings (audio and video) within the School, using automatic systems and freelance videographers. Coordinates and supervises freelance Videographers and Technicians as needed with clients.
  • Assists in the specification of all types of audio/visual equipment, coordinates purchasing efforts, asset management and executes billing procedures.
  • Sets up sound and video applications for conferences, meetings, and classroom events as needed.
  • Performs equipment checks daily, ensuring all classroom and conference technology within the Business School is in working condition.
  • Provides user support (training and documentation) to faculty, administrators, and students in the use of the school's multimedia services.
  • Utilizing knowledge of signal flow, processing, AV cables & connectors, and AV over IP protocols, troubleshoot and repair component level failures.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent experience required. 2-4 years related experience required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required, as is the ability to manage and organize a high level of information and detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and leverage creative problem solving is crucial.
  • Excellent customer service skills, particularly as they relate to providing advisory and consulting services to the faculty of a leading business school, are imperative.
  • Diagnostic experience with A/V Infrastructure equipment is necessary.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment is required.
  • Work week is Tuesday - Saturday 10:30am-6:30pm, with occasional, mandatory Sunday shift. Compensation days off during given Monday-Friday when working on Sundays. Shifts and workdays may fluctuate as academic demands require.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least an additional two years of relevant experience working with classroom, media and event technology is preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education or other academic setting is highly desirable.
  • Networking experience, administrative management experience in Courseworks, Zoom, and Echo360, general familiarity with Windows and/or Apple operating systems, Crestron software and remote desktop applications are a plus.
  • ITIL Certification, Crestron Core and/or Technician Certification is highly desirable.
