Neonatologist

The Neonatology-Perinatology Department of Akron Children's Hospital seeks a full-time Neonatologist for the NICU and Special Care Nursery located in Boardman, Ohio.

Join an established group of 10 neonatologists and 14 neonatal advanced practice providers to provide neonatal care in Mahoning Valley. Akron Children's partners with Mercy Health at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital to provide delivery room coverage to approximately 3,400 deliveries annually. The maternity service is in the same facility as our single-patient room 25-bed Level III NICU which opened in April 2014. The group also provides coverage for an 18-bed level II special care nursery located at Akron Children's Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus in Boardman. Our team provides comprehensive treatment plans for optimum patient care, attends high risk deliveries, and manages and facilitates HFOV, and cooling. Neonatal patients requiring ECMO, or surgery require transfer out. Our Neonatology program also participates in the Vermont Oxford Network.

The group also serves as Med Control for a dedicated transport service with approximately 100 patients referred annually from surrounding hospitals. The incoming physician will have teaching opportunities with residents and medical students and an appointment opportunity at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine.

The successful candidate will be an excellent clinician with interest in education and quality improvement.
Requirements include:
* Board certified/board eligible in Neonatal/Perinatal Medicine
* Ability to obtain an active Ohio medical license

This position is a 501(c)(3) site which qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the Federal government.
