Description

SUMMARY

The SVP Hallmark Studios will report to the EVP of Programming and will oversee all scripted and unscripted domestic and international production, leading a team that produces scripted series and movies, unscripted series, and that coordinates with licensed and acquisitions production partners, with external producers for owned and licensed shows, and oversees all aspects of production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The position will coordinate with Finance on the overall departmental budget as well as manage the individual show budgets. This role will also be tasked with exploring new finance models and working with external and internal partners to set up new models of production financing for different modes of production partnerships.
  • The SVP will also work with the creative and business cross-functional partners to discover and partner on other forms of distribution and production for SVOD and linear. This leader and their team will also help identify and engage with new partners, and new modes of production and producing practices for continued cost savings and continued innovation.
  • This role should continue to identify and build new relationships with studios, producers, and crews in North America, Europe, and other new locations to take advantage of state, local, and national tax credits, and expand our reach to the most advantageous locations.
  • Establish new production models to minimize spending while maintaining scope with accountability for the management of spending and close supervision of cost reporting.
  • This role will work closely with the Development team and the SVP of Talent Strategy to adhere to production schedules, budgets, and maximize talent usage across platforms and shows.
  • This role collaborates with Producers, Line Producers, Content creators, development teams, vendors, marketing and creative execs, communications, publicity, guild, and union members and leadership. Hallmark Studios will serve as the nerve center of the production process in managing these multiple relationships.
  • This role requires overseeing the slate of projects in production, ensuring all productions are delivered on time and within budget, managing the scheduling and complex logistics of the movement of program deliveries across SVOD and linear, and being responsible for setting the overall production approach and strategy in consultation with the EVP of Programming.
  • Search out, identify, and monitor the latest production incentives and build out implementation plans for those that would deliver production efficiencies, increase content quality, or provide cost savings.
  • This role is a senior department head position that requires the ability to manage and mentor junior team members, conduct departmental meetings, and participate in the leadership of the Programming team.
Qualifications

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • 10+ years of progressive experience across content production, with at least 5 years in a senior production leadership role.
  • Excellent record of accomplishment in building, growing, and leading energized and motivated production channels that result in high-quality original content.
  • Sophisticated approach to content production, with a deep understanding of how to build and engage effective relationships across a broad spectrum of producers and content creators.
  • Proven record of accomplishment in delivering on time, on budget, high-quality content across scripted, series, non-scripted, or other related content areas.
  • Excellent reputation; outstanding relationships in the creative community, within the industry, and with key media contacts. A relationship builder who can gain access to key constituencies and build enduring relationships that drive new partnerships; can influence, persuade, facilitate alignment, and close deals as needed.

  • Passion, confidence, and instincts for producing high-quality, sophisticated content that resonates with consumers.
  • Business-minded with a strong understanding of programming, production, promotion, advertising, and distribution.
  • Strategic, creative, and organized mind and shares production expertise about both the creative process and the models that support the delivery of successful content. Can see the path to success and has the energy and drive to bring it to fruition. Can identify crucial priorities and develop the necessary plans and resource allocations to achieve them.
  • Proven flexible and agile leader with a high creative and business acumen that has been consistently deployed in a variety of creative and business contexts.
  • Strong collaborator with a positive outlook who is confident, charismatic, and leads with contagious enthusiasm. Can listen and collaborate across departments, disciplines, and varied management styles. Must be able to exert influence appropriately and be persuasive when presenting opportunities to the rest of the company; can clearly articulate an idea that brings everyone and everything together and provides clarity for the way forward.

The salary range for this job is between $267,300 to $385,000. The salary rate will take into consideration several factors including location.
