As a Maintenance Supervisor for Motion NEMA Motor in Fort Smith, Arkansas, you will be primarily focusing on improvement of equipment uptime. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining the preventive / predictive maintenance directive. Performing Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) to prevent recurring equipment problems is also a key responsibility of this role. You will be developing and maintaining critical spare part lists for all critical equipment, maintaining training matrix to keep the maintenance tech skill levels where they need to be, providing technical support for the techs on challenging problems, researching and suggesting new ways to improve equipment reliability, and maintaining the maintenance library.

Your responsibilities

  • Foster a culture where safety is priority and where procedures and policies are followed. Assure compliance with all appropriate governmental regulations
  • Must be representative of management that portrays a professional attitude and support the plant/company goals and objectives
  • Provide leadership, direction, training, and administration of anyone assigned to the department
  • Prepare Work Orders and review those turned in for any part or work follow ups
  • Responsible for plant maintenance, PMs and equipment
  • Direct and coordinate maintenance duties
  • Responsible for shift communications
  • Promote employee involvement, listen, communicate and follow up
  • Be firm, fair and consistent in distributing disciplinary action in guidance with the Employee Handbook and company policies. Ability to resolve employee issues
  • May be required to attend training classes/seminars (overnight travel may be required)
  • Provide leadership in the department: Determine priorities, decide on actions taken and provide advanced troubleshooting as needed
  • Must work with all other departments, supervisors and managers to solve problems and accomplish plant goals
  • Must be flexible in work hours (off shift hours required)
  • Other duties as assigned
Your background

  • Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar with minimum 2 years of related experience; OR or in lieu of degree with minimum 5 years of related experience in maintenance
  • 3 plus years of experience in a leadership role
  • Prior maintenance supervision experience a plus
  • PLC troubleshooting and controls experience/knowledge highly desired
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of industrial electrical application, pneumatics, hydraulics and control systems
  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP a plus
  • Candidate must be able to supervise employees while achieving all daily production goals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Attention to detail, time efficiency and utilization of manpower
  • Understand manufacturing concepts, processes and Flex Flow and Lean concepts
  • Must be self motivated, detail oriented, with a strong desire to learn new things
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks, changing priorities and perform well under pressure
  • Must be willing to attend leadership and continuing education classes
  • Ability to read prints and technical manuals
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair heavy machinery
  • Advanced understanding of Machine operations and diagnostics
  • Ability to effectively diagnose machine malfunctions and concisely communicate detailed root cause(s) of malfunctions
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques in supervising, counseling and discipline direct reports
  • Enforce general handbook policies fairly and consistently
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexible with overtime to support 2nd and 3rd shifts
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
