This position occupies a key role in the manufacturing team of ABB's Motion NEMA Motors division. In this role, you will be responsible for making improvements on our stamping tools in order to maximize productivity and minimize scrap, lead and coordinate all the tool room resources (Equipment and Personnel) to make sure all tools performs efficiently, on time and in line with our quality standards ensuring that health, safety and environmental (HSE) requirements are met. Also, you will be responsible for establishing best practices, policies and procedures while mentoring and showing strong leadership, highlighting process deficiencies and collaborating with other departments to improve our stamping operation.

This position reports to

Engineering Manager

Your responsibilities

  • Support Production and Engineering departments to manage and guarantee tools on time availability to ensure continuous production and increase our Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
  • Manage Kronos and other HR (Human Resources) related tasks to support our employees
  • Set department objectives, support plant KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and review ongoing performance and provide root cause analysis to improve tooling performance
  • Supervise and manage planned activities ensuring tool room is operating under a safe environment in line with health, safety and environmental requirements
  • Maintain tool room equipment (Grinders, EDMs, Lathes, Mills) in operating conditions and provide immediate repair
  • Provide quotations for new tooling, modifications and repairs
  • Provide weekly communication to all shifts at all levels
  • Responsible for purchasing parts to do repairs and perform die service
  • Prepare and Manage annual tooling budget, forecast and lead capital expenditure projects until completion
  • Manage contractors and oversee installations of tool room equipment
  • Foster a culture of sustained continuous improvement programs with the ABB organization that helps develop a higher collaborative work environment (5S - SMED (Single Minute Exchange of Dies) - KAIZEN - LEAN - SIX SIGMA) in all operation areas
  • Manage Cost Savings, Productivity, Scrap Reduction, Standardization Projects
Your background

  • Bachelor's Degree with minimum 2 years experience OR Associate's Degree with minimum 4 years experience OR High School Diploma / GED with minimum 6 years experience.
  • Preferred Experience Includes:
  • Minimum 2 years of work experience leading projects in a manufacturing environment - Minimum 2 years of experience managing tool makers and tool room equipment - Progressive Stamping Operation experience (Carbide Lamination Dies) -
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft office, Kronos and SAP - Experience developing employee training programs
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US
