Services Engineering is a key function of Services NAM (Americas). The function provides engineering expertise and technical solutions to the various Business Units (BU) of Services. We support Operations and Maintenance (O&M) sites, as well as lead the design efforts for Asset Life Management (Modernizations, upgrades, overhauls of rail vehicles) and support the Parts Obsolescence BU. We provide engineering support to all products maintained by Alstom that operate in the North American market (automated people movers, light rail vehicles, commuters, metros, locomotives...), as well as several of the infrastructure components (guideways, stations, depots, electrification and power distribution...). We are 230+ professionals, located in 17 different sites across the continent.

What are my responsibilities?

As the Parts and Components ., you will apply your electrical knowledge to manage, prevent, and plan for obsolescence through supplier agreements & partnership , design, reverse engineering solutions and OEM Partnership for Aftermarket Customers. In addition the daily activites will involve

• Data Analysis and Data Handlingin GSI, SAP, 360, Power Bi , IPC, Manuals
• TOMSYS Expert
• Reporting, Presentation, Planning internally and for Customer's Directly
• Procurement / Sales/ Customer Service Understanding
• Last Time Buy - Control the database, process, conduct meetings ,etc.
• Assist in Risk Assessement and Data storage
• Famility with IPC , Maintance Manuels, etc. needed for tracking and input into Obsolescence Management tools
• Obsolescence Management - Aseessement of Design Mitigation , Risk Asssessement, Solutions and Escalations via Alstom Global Procedures
• Obsolescence Solutions (Supplier Partnership, Circular Economy, Make to Print, etc ) to meet FFF specifications and requirements. You will provide assembly/repair instructions, new designs drawings, develop all the required documentation, create or update engineering change orders, review vendor technical proposals to ensure compliance to specifications and product safety.

You will actively participate and contribute to the aggressive growth of the Parts & Components business. You will support a customer outreach program to proactively generate business opportunities such as major overhauls and Technical Support and Spares Supply Agreements (TSSSA). You will:

• Ensure all the parts proposal will be meeting the customer specifications in form, fit and function, railway safety, reliability, industrial norms, and standards.
• Adherence to schedule and customer first attitude required
• Coordinate and lead efforts with vendors to confirm compliancy with customer requirements. You will interface with the end customer and vendors to ensure compliancy and validity of design
• Maintain your knowledge of rail and electrical-electronic norms and standards such as FRA, AAR, IEEE, ANSI etc.
• Provide electrical and mechanical drawings, bills of material, detailed work scope, assembly and testing instructions
• Work on bids proposals for obs. management on components and systems used in the rail industry.
• Provide instructions to drafters and designers for the development and preparation of layouts, assembly, and detail drawings. Provide engineering support during production of the part, specify and select components to be applied in the parts
• Provide customer technical support as needed.
• Operate in the ALSTOM CCB Change Control Board

You will work in multi-disciplinary teams with Customers, Rolling Stock Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Sales Team, Operations, Finance, Auditors, Platform (Tenders, Reference Library, REX), Quality, Validation and Testing.

What do I need to qualify for this job?

Have experience in rail industry standards and design or with similar industry products such as transportation vehicles, and with components and systems.

Ability to work with many data systems to create and control Obs. Management tools and database with a focus on Customer needs.

Have experience in preparing procurement specifications and technical requirements from customer specification to drive the design of the parts requested.

Familar with Obsolescence Management and Reverse Engineer , Repair , New Design, Supplier Partnership, Circular Economy, Make to Print, etc

Candidate must be versatile, customer focused, very autonomous, with hands-on experience, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment in unclear and ill-defined environments, resourceful to find information and a great communicator

Minimum Qualifications

• University or Technical College degree in Railway Engineering, Degree in Engineering
• 2-3 years of industry related experience
• TOMSYS Experienceor Similar
• Data Analysis Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of rolling stock systems and components
• Knowledge of safety management systems and safety risk assessment
• Proficient in the use of CATIA V5 (or equivalent), MS Office, SAP, GSI, Maximo (other ERP tools)
• Knowledge of Alstom Design for Quality processes
• Knowledge of Obsolescence Management and Solutions
• Six Sigma Green Belt or Higher
• Data Analysis Experience
