This role will sit primarily in the office.

Responsibilities

The Contract Manager will serve an integral role within the Legal Department that supports Gilbane Building Company and its subsidiaries. Among other things, the Contract Manager will provide day-to-day contract administration and support to one or more Divisions. The Legal Department is composed of nine attorneys situated throughout the country, and the Contract Manager may be required to assist each attorney at various times. This position will report to the Deputy General Counsel, who is located in the Company's headquarters in Providence, Rhode Island. The Contract Manager should anticipate providing updates, information and reports to the Business Unit Leader(s) as well as the assigning attorney. Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential.

    Oversees contract administration including the review, negotiation and approval of contracts for review by other members of the Legal Department, including prime contracts, nondisclosure agreements, subcontract agreements, consulting agreements, and similar documents.
  • Ensures that terms of contracts are in accordance with Company policies, applicable federal and state regulations and laws, business needs, and work to minimize the Company's risks and exposure.
  • Coordinate with project teams to address risk ad legal issues during the contract negotiation process.
  • Assist Project team in preparing contract abstracts.
  • Review pertinent contractual documents for notice requirements and deadlines; draft required correspondence and legal documents for review and approval by attorneys.
  • Prepare template notices and participate in project kick-off meetings to highlight compliance with contractual obligations. Monitor and advise on contractual deadlines timely.
  • Assist in all aspects of claim preparation.
  • Collect documents, data and the like responsive to subpoenas and other discovery requests.
  • Investigate, review and respond to requests by third parties (e.g., government agencies, insurance carriers, etc.).
  • Manage and utilize contract management systems and assist business units with proper document controls.
  • Administer records retention policy.
  • Assist in contract training and claims management for business units
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

A legal degree is not required for this position. The ideal Contract Manager will possess solid academic credentials including a bachelor's degree and minimum of 5 years of paralegal experience or 7 years of Contract Manager experience. The ideal candidate will have relevant prior experience in the construction and/or related industries. Experience reviewing, negotiating and drafting contracts and related instruments is essential. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong proofing skills and able to work in a fast-paced environment are a must. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.

Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.

For Providence, RI, Baltimore, MD and Glastonbury, CT this ranges from $107,900.00 - $148,500.00 plus benefits and retirement program.

For Boston, MA this ranges from $120,300.00 - $165,400.00 plus benefits and retirement program.
