Aboutthe Practice

Nilsen Eye Care opened in 1998 and expanded to a second location, serving patients at North Courthouse Road in Chesterfield County and Anderson Highway in Powhatan. The team at Nilsen Eye Care shares the same philosophy of putting the whole health of patients first. With a strong focus on medical preventative eye care, the professionals specialize in ocular disease diagnosis and management, specialized care for diabetes patients, glaucoma, cataracts, and co-management with primary care physicians and pediatricians. To support business growth and maintain a positive employee culture, Nilsen Eye Care is looking to add an Optometrist to the team of 47 staff members.

Nilsen Eye Care takes a holistic approach and utilizes state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to diagnose and treat ocular conditions. The practice is well equipped with a suite of technologies, including optical coherence tomography, fundus photography, visual fields, and additional diagnostic instrumentation. Additionally, electronic health records software enable seamless processes at every point of the patient experience. Opticians provide personalized support to help patients select the proper frames tailoredto visual needs, lifestyle, and budget-plus, an onsite edger conveniently serves customers with single-vision same-day glasses.

About the Optometrist Opening
Nilsen Eye Care is seeking an Optometrist passionate about providing exceptional eye health care and individualized vision solutions to ensure optimal vision. The practice has a unique patient centric model. You'll have an opportunity to specialize and have the best support with well trained techs and long term managers, a team of doctors to support them, and a wonderful work environment where we encourage team work and don't tolerate negativity.

You'll perform comprehensive vision examinations, medical eye exams for eye health, contact lens fittings, and promote preventative eye health through patient education-on average, 16 to 22 patients are cared for daily. The position is four to five days per week; the office is open Monday through Friday and every other Saturday. The practice is looking for an Optometrist who is a team player and willing to support other doctors when needed.

To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate leadership, excellent patient communication skills, interpersonal skills, and compassion for patient health and safety. The ideal candidatewill want to continuously develop skills through mentorship with experienced doctors and integrate new techniques and innovations that improve patient care and services.For the right Optometrist, a future potential partnership opportunity may be available.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Optometry degree and license in the state of Virginia
