If your answer is a vigorous, "Yes!" to these questions, then the LinQuest Corporation wants you to join our team to contribute to an exciting and dynamic effort for the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) on location in Reston, Virginia.

LinQuest Corporation is seeking a Software Engineer with direct development experience with AFSIM to help advance Department of Defense (DoD) capabilities to conduct mission-level modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) of complex, adaptive kill webs.

The selected individual will serve on a broader multi-disciplinary team of operational military subject matter experts, operations research analysts, and modelers conducting sponsor-directed studies and analyses using an environment and MS&A tool being developed by DARPA. Other applicant requirements and job functions include:

  • Support a team of software developers and modelers in the development of platform, weapon, system, and behavior models for use by the study team.
  • Implement models in study scenarios and vignettes as required.
  • Develop software operational testing protocols and/or procedures as required.
  • Support operational testing as required.
  • Prepare documentation of models, processes developed or employed, and test results.
  • Must be able to work independently without direct supervision.
  • Experience developing core AFSIM is highly preferred.
  • The ability to work in a secure, confined location(ie., SCIF)
  • An active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Comparted Information (SCI) eligibility is required.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Master's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • Degree must be in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, or related fields
  • DoD 8570-approved certifications (or demonstrated equivalency):
    • CompTIA Security+ or Level I equivalent (minimum)
    • ISC2 Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP) or Level II equivalent (preferred)
  • High level of proficiency in AFSIM modeling/scripting/development
  • Ability to think creatively and function as part of a high-performing team
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Experience developing mission-level modeling & simulation software
  • Experience implementing simulation models to inform executive decision-making
  • Familiarity with Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with current SCI eligibility
  • Eligible for Special Access Program (SAP) access
  • US Citizenship

Preferred Skills:

  • Understands systems engineering principles and can identify data exchange requirements between software modules and/or subsystems
  • Familiarity with one or more mission-level modeling and simulation (M&S) environments, such as NGTS, ITASE, etc., in addition to AFSIM proficiency
  • Thorough understanding of behavior modeling in AFSIM, NGTS, or other similar mission-level M&S framework
  • Proficiency in one or more of the following: Python, C++, XML
  • Master's Degree in a related field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience
  • Experience developing core AFSIM
  • Extensive knowledge/experience in Joint warfighting capabilities, advanced weapons, current and future operational concepts and modeling & simulation of the same
  • Experience developing and implementing tools in a Linux environment
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance with active SCI within the last 12 months
