How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Project Director works independently and with other staff to ensure the timely and cost effective completion of projects. This position is accountable for results related to on time and on budget completion of projects including scheduling, cost control, and progress monitoring for goal achievement. The Project Director is responsible for leading the team of Project Manager(s) and outside vendors. The Project Director works with the Regional Maintenance Manager and VP of Operations and directs the Project Manager(s) to prepare comprehensive action plans, for resources such as inventory and equipment, all within project completion timeframes. This role will be responsible for the successful conclusion of operations projects by providing leadership, strategically managing risk, monitoring finances and ensuring each phase of the project starts and ends on schedule. The Project Director is responsible for overseeing multiple projects throughout the Region. The Project Director will also manage East's Quality program.
  • Responsible for all regional operations project management involving the complex installation of Airgas equipment.
  • Provide leadership to the Regional Project Manager(s).
  • Determines strategic and operational plans for each operational project.
  • Establishes, monitors, and reports metrics for all project plan milestones, budget figures, assess risk and compliance issues or findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage available resources and track planned effort against actual effort and make changes as needed.
  • Strategically and tactfully monitors necessary project staff scheduling and overtime levels in order to keep projects on time and within budget.
  • Strive to align each operational project's approach and impact with the Regions larger goals and objectives.
  • Ensure compliance and proper reconciliation of paperwork/electronic files related to all projects.
  • Maintains all data project requests and supporting documentation in a timely manner and within established quality metrics
  • Maintains 100% attendance participation at all safety meetings in an attempt to reduce accident frequency ratios.
  • Supports and participates in the Health, Safety and Environmental programs and objectives established by the business entity

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related area of study required. In lieu of degree requirement, may accept an additional three years of related experience in addition to the required minimum.
  • Required Length & Type of Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years project control/scheduling experience.
  • Experience leading a team.
  • Prior experience with spend management and expense controls.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSA's):
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the following areas: compliance with applicable federal/state regulations, gases and related hard goods, safety and compliance.
  • Considerable independent judgment and initiative are required in resolving problems and making recommendations; demonstrated ability to balance customer service and cost of service issues; demonstrates tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers and with handling proprietary information.
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills. Ability to lead associates who do not directly report to the position.
  • Financial acumen for articulating ROC, and other metrics utilized by business professionals when considering capital expenditures.
  • Strong project management skills and knowledge of project management tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others and to create cross-functional alignment.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to effectively present and discuss information and respond to questions.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint and Google.
