About the Team:

Medidata's Product Organization is staffed with a passionate team of product experts, tackling the industry's most difficult technical challenges in order to push the boundaries of possibility for our clients and most importantly, for patients. Together we can deliver meaningful advanced digital transformation to the industry in order to achieve our vision.

Medidata is looking for a Senior Product Designer to create first-in-class user experiences for clinical and commercial-grade applications for Life Science & Biotech industries. The Senior Product Designer will report to the Senior Manager, Product Design and will interact with designers, engineering, operations and product management to conduct discovery, design detailed workflows and experiences, deliver visual mockups and prototypes, and assist in user validation. This position requires a designer that has experience designing user interactions consistent with brand and visual guidelines, and within a shared design system.

Responsibilities:

The ideal candidate must have experience leading design within a specific product or product area. This includes seeing projects from discovery through hand-off and production. You will be responsible for:

  • Adopting a user-centered approach to design
  • Staying current on best practices, trends and patterns for consumer and enterprise applications
  • Assisting in validating product ideas on actual users and customers by participating in discovery workshops and creating design prototypes
  • Translating research and testing findings into actionable requirements
  • Thriving in a highly collaborative, fast-paced, agile environment
  • Working closely with product management, designers, engineers, and data scientists to deliver first-class user interfaces
Must Haves:
  • Fundamental understanding of UX design and research methods
  • Ability to create personas, user journey maps, service blueprints, etc. based on user research
  • Ability to interpret business and functional requirements from a human-centered as opposed to feature-centered perspective
  • Excellent collaborator with other designers, product managers, engineers, and stakeholders
  • Experience using and contributing to design systems
  • Experience building usable, accessible, responsive, and modular designs
  • Experience with designing, running, and analyzing usability tests and design experiments
  • Proficiency with standard design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, InVision, Axure, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of continuous discovery and involving customers in the design process
Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in a high-tech UX team in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment
  • Bachelor or Master's degree in Human Factors, User Experience Design, HCI, Information Science, or related discipline
  • Must include a web-based portfolio of past User Experience Design project

Nice to have

  • Experience working with large-scale, complex design systems
  • Familiarity with big data and dashboard design
  • Experience working with international or multilingual products and users
  • Experience with emerging technologies, such Gen AI or machine learning, and their potential impacts on product design

As with all roles, Medidata sets ranges based on a number of factors including function, level, candidate expertise and experience, and geographic location.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the NYC Metro Area is $114,750-153,000.

The salary range for positions that will be physically based in the California Bay Area is $121,500-162,000.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Medidata provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work. Most sales positions are eligible for a commission on the terms of applicable plan documents, and many of Medidata's non-sales positions are eligible for annual bonuses.
