The Position

We seek a motivated scientist to drive translational medicine and research efforts in drug development and biomarker development. The incumbent will apply image analysis and machine learning in collaboration with a group of computational and biological scientists to perform digital pathology research for programs in research and clinical development.

The ideal candidate has a consistent record of creativity and performance in digital pathology research, evidenced by peer reviewed publications in top tier journals, patent applications, and/or a publicly available code repository.

The Opportunity

As a Principal Scientist, you will be:

  • Applying and developing digital pathology methods to extract disease biology insights and support innovative clinical development and research programs.

  • Actively and collaboratively promoting scientific and technical innovation with other members of the department, including subject matter experts in disease biology, companion diagnostics, and data science.

  • Directing and supporting publications in high quality scientific, technical, or medical journals.

  • Representing the department through interactions with computational, biological and translational research collaborators.

  • Interacting with key partners and investigators and effectively manage internal and external scientific collaborations.

  • Participating and thriving in an interactive, collaborative, and team-oriented culture.

Who You Are:

  • PhD degree in a relevant field (e.g. computer science, computational biology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, cancer biology).

  • Minimum of 3 years post-PhD experience, with demonstrated scientific contribution in digital pathology in academia and/or industry.

  • Fluency with Python and statistical data analysis using modern frameworks (e.g. R, NumPy).

  • Experience with image analysis, machine learning, and deep learning frameworks (e.g. Pytorch, TensorFlow-Keras).

  • Enthusiasm for understanding and discerning the biological context of disease with excellent communication and collaboration skills

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $146,800-$272,600. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
