Major Position Responsibilities

This position will be located at the new GD-OTS facility located in Mesquite, TX.

SUMMARY: Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment and systems (e.g., mechanical, electrical). Evaluates and recommends equipment improvements to improve availability, capability and yield. Performs equipment failure analyses (including preventive and unscheduled maintenance). Troubleshoots and diagnoses equipment problems. Prepares technical reports to document equipment modifications and equipment maintenance procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assists in the repair and maintenance of equipment or machinery.
  • Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
  • Ensures new machines are prepared for operation following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency.
  • May also include responsibilities for Mesquite:
    • Reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, Mechanical & Electrical.
    • Communicating with the production team and maintaining a clean work area.
    • Preparing and submitting maintenance reports

  • Performs manual tasks according to established procedures
  • Requires working knowledge and skills to perform a defined set of analytical scientific or operational processes
  • Applies experience and skills to complete assigned work within own area of expertise
  • Works within standard operating procedures and/or scientific methods
  • Works with a moderate degree of supervision

For Mesquite Operations: This will be for Second Shift Position. Second Shift will have a premium.

Basic Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • Vocational/Technical Training Degree
  • Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education and/or Experience
  • Preferred: Associate's Degree with Technical Training
  • 3-5 years prior experience in a similar position. Industrial Maintenance Manufacturing environment preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to work as part of a team. Ability to follow directions.
  • Manual Dexterity.
  • Physically able to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Physical stamina
  • For Mesquite Operations:
    • Knowledge of parametric and industrial control systems
    • Familar with OSHA Safety Standards and Regulations
    • In-Depth Knowledge of Hydraulic Systems and Schematics
    • In-Depth Knowledge of Siemens PLCs and Drives
    • Basic Computer and Report Writing Skills

Preferred

  • Experience with start ups, such as project planning, and establishing business processes, management systems, and work instructions is desired. This is an exciting opportunity to create the business processes, systems, and culture to stand up a high performing manufacturing operation.

Physical Demands

  • Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
  • May need to stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Work may require employee to work inside and outside with exposure to changing climate and/or operate machinery.
  • May be requested to work a different shift
  • Must be willing to work outside of normal business hours as required.
