Brief Description

The Operations Analyst role will assist in the support of multiple regions, functional groups, and drilling rigs based on the current and pressing needs of the organization. Major responsibilities include Asset Sales Disposal and Tubular Management, effectively managing customer relationships, conducting rig/yard/3rd party visits and follow-ups with regional management while providing operational support. Additionally, this role works with the corporate and regional offices as an SME (Subject Matter Expert) to help develop training, provide guidance on strategic decisions, and assist with developing/establishing best practices and procedures across a wide range of operational tasks. This role will work under the direction of the Director of Special Projects and will align and coordinate activities with other functional groups both locally and regionally.

Detailed Description

  • Partner with different functional groups, regional management and the field and help to forecast regional needs, addressing them accordingly.
  • Conduct asset disposal inventories in regional yards.
  • Facilitate customer visits showing equipment in regional yards.
  • Oversee and manage 3rd party asset disposal companies in regional yards.
  • Monitor tubular inspections and repairs of 3rd party companies.
  • Conduct rig/yard audits and regional audits, share key learnings with management.
  • Attend and facilitate customer meetings, maintain relationships with customers and other key stakeholders while addressing needs.
  • Identify those operational tasks that need checklists/SOPs (standard operating procedures) and work with/within the regions in developing those accordingly.
  • Work with business partners as well as customers to establish fundamental inspections to address gaps or deficiencies within the regions.
  • Aid in facilitating rig moves and rig move planning meetings.
  • Conduct incident investigations related to drill pipe
  • Create solutions that identify key metrics and company goals, as well as regional shortages.
  • Develop and deliver high-level proposals and training to corporate personnel and the Senior Management Team.
  • Travel extensively to regional locations in North America and the Middle East.
  • Read and write emails, create reports, and produce documents.
  • Be responsible for company resources, equipment, and personnel.
  • Help to lead, develop, supervise, and manage other development role candidates under his/her leadership.

  • Assist in developing and facilitating both classroom and structured on-the-job training classes and programs.
  • Ensure strategy/directives/scope/training is carried out as identified to include the integrity and consistency of policies, procedures, and programs as delivered by the organization.
  • Identify gaps and disconnects within the field and formulate solutions accordingly.
  • Interpret strategy and formulate business tactics from a variety of sources.
  • Conduct needs and cost-benefit analyses to determine best solutions for the organization and stakeholders.

Job Requirements:

  • Ability to proficiently use MS Office Suite to develop presentations, correspondences, and reports. (Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel to include Senior Management and customers.
  • Effectively navigate drilling rig work sites with walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
  • Ability to travel to visit drilling rig work sites and support business units (80%); requiring extended travel to remote locations and/or overnight stay(s) outside normal office area to include North America and the Middle East.
  • Knowledge and experience to conduct rig audits and regional audits and follow-up visits.
  • Comfortable leading and participating in industry association, customer, and leadership meetings.
  • Able to adapt to, prioritize, and effectively manage many different tasks simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate clear communication skills and the ability to promptly give and follow directions.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team and prioritize tasks while managing distractions.
  • Able to communicate effectively including speaking, reading, and writing English
  • Ability to understand and use basic management concepts and principles.
  • Adhere to company policies, guidelines, and work requirements.
  • Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times.
  • Presentation skills to share key learnings with both regional and corporate management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • 5 years of experience and knowledge of SER and AC drive style rigs
  • 1 year experience working in information systems
  • Ability to receive appropriate documentation to travel outside the U.S.
  • Must have valid state-issued driver's license and be eligible to drive Company vehicle including ability to meet requirements of Company's Vehicle Use Agreement and Driving Policy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Prior experience in a Driller, Rig Manager, Superintendent or Equipment Yard Supervisor role
  • Knowledge in tubulars, tubular inspections, and repairs
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

Additional Details:

Work Environment

Work consists of 12-hour days and will include occasional overtime as well as weekends and holidays. Frequent travel (80%) to other Company offices and drilling rig work sites, conducting field visits (with deliverables), often in remote locations, is required during normal rig operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather), and employee will be expected to properly use designated personal protective equipment (PPE).
