About the Opportunity

Martin Currie has an immediate opening for a Client Portfolio Associate in our Chicago office. This position will support the Americas distribution team on business development efforts in both the retail and institutional channels and be a key member of the team to help drive increased interaction and activity with clients and prospects.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of this role?

Distribution:

  • Responsible for lead generation in institutional and private wealth channels utilizing various lead generation websites and tools available to Martin Currie.

  • Support Martin Currie team with strategic direction as to which key plans to call on and consultants.

  • Analyze data and understand which institutional opportunities to target.

  • Create briefs on prospecting opportunities.

  • Support field sales Client Portfolio Managers in covering Tier 1 retail territories.

  • Assist in developing tier 2 and 3 retail territories in private wealth.

  • Assist in responding to client and prospect inquiries.

  • Support in providing competitive analysis.

  • Support logistics for US visits from PMs, Senior Management, to ensure roadshows run smoothly.

Client Service:

  • Support CPMs, IPMs with FT local teams and Martin Currie teams to ensure client service and asset retention is consistent and focused.

  • Support Client Portfolio Managers and Institutional Portfolio managers with meeting follow up deliverables, including and not limited to documents, collateral, and data requests.

  • Ensure key clients, prospects and Franklin Templeton partners receive collateral and thought leadership on a timely basis.

  • Lead meeting planning process for key prospect and client meetings.

  • Work closely with our client service team in Edinburgh to ensure clarity of reporting and a proactive approach is delivered.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Comply with and be an advocate and role model for all Martin Currie and Franklin Templeton Legal, Regulatory, Governance, Risk and Compliance obligations including understanding your personal responsibilities, obligations, record keeping and behaviors all of the time.

What ideal qualifications, skills & experience would help someone to be successful?

Education

  • An undergraduate degree is expected.

  • CFA Charter holder desired or interests in pursuing.

  • FINRA licenses will be required.

Technical skills and experience

  • 3-5 years' experience in financial services.

  • Previous Sales and client service experience supporting retail and institutional channels in asset management.

  • Industry Knowledge - has intermediate knowledge of investment markets, financial terminology, and compliance requirements.

  • Data analytics and information gathering: Ability to synthesize large amounts of data into targeted lists.

Communication Skills

  • Good Interpersonal Skills - must be able to work well both independently and within groups.

  • Strong communication skills capable of structuring verbal and written communications in ways that promote clarity and understanding.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate complicated concepts effectively.

Product Knowledge

  • Understanding of market and competitor trends, themes, and styles.

  • Understanding of vehicles available and technical differences.

Compensation Range: Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. The salary, benefits and variable rewards will reflect the seniority of the position and a competitive market rate. We expect the annual salary for this position to range between $70,000 to $80,000 plus a discretionary bonus.
