The Neonatal Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (based at South Shore Hospital) will be responsible for:
  • Working in southeast Massachusetts to work with a group of 7 Neonatologists and 4 Neonatal Nurse Practitioners in a 30 bed level 3 NICU that is part of the Harvard Newborn Medicine Network; The hospital has approximately 3600 deliveries per year and an active Maternal Fetal Medicine service with genetic counselors; The NICU has approximately 450 admissions yearly
  • Providing care for neonates with no restrictions on gestational age or duration of mechanical ventilation, on a unit with expertise in use of CPAP, synchronized mechanical ventilation, non-invasive ventilation, high frequency oscillatory ventilation, inhaled nitric oxide and echocardiography
  • Participating in ground-based stabilization and transport of critically ill neonates
  • Participation in quality improvement activities, research projects and teaching
  • The position is a minimum of 6, 24 hour shifts per month including weekends and holidays

To qualify, you must have:

  • Master of Science in Nursing or Masters in Physician Assistant Studies
  • Licensed, Board Certified PA, Neonatal NP
  • Must have at least 1-2 years experience in a level III NICU
  • Experience to practice independently with the following skills: endotracheal intubation, umbilical catheter placement and vascular access (including percutaneous insertion of central catheters)
