Physician Assistant (PA) II - Specialty Cardiac OR The patient population consists of critically ill patients that have undergoing cardiac surgical interventions including, but not limited to, coronary artery bypass, valve replacements and repairs, Type A aortic dissections, heart or lung transplantation, mechanical circulatory support device implantation including LVAD/RVAD (Heartmate II or III, Heartware, Centrimag), and ECMO (veno-venous and veno-arterial).Under the direction, supervision and responsibility of a physician, and in accordance with established policies, the PA will evaluate the patient's health status through diagnostic procedures and tests. The Physician Assistant will practice within the guidelines of the unit department and institution, and in accordance with the PA Written Agreement required and approved by the State of Maryland.

Shifts: 10-hour rotating shifts; weekends; on-call

Qualifications:

  • Completion of an AMA approved Physician Assistant Program
  • Licensed by the MD Board of Physicians.
  • Board certified or by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • BLS Health Care Provider CPR certification required: AHA or Red Cross accepted
  • Minimum of 2 years PA Cardiac OR work experience required
  • Provider Enrollment, Chain and Ownership Systems (PECOS) enrollment required if you will order or refer services for Medicare patients

You must be fully credentialled by The Johns Hopkins Hospital medical board with staff privileges to start working.
