Work Schedule:

M, T, 8 am - 5 PM; W, TH 10 am - 7 pm; F: 8 am - 4 pm; possible weekends

Rate of Pay:

This position is a grade 15 with a minimum of $56,925 and a mid-point of $75,900. Salary offer will be commensurate with the education/experience, in alignment with the College's compensation philosophy, and the current CBA, if applicable.

Job Summary:

An employee in this classification performs work of moderate difficulty by recruiting, coordinating, and planning recruitment activities and events to meet the college's enrollment goals. Work is distinguished by the ability to recruit students to the college, provide timely responses to student inquiries, guide prospective students through the enrollment cycle, and develop relationships within the college and community to meet the educational needs of District 509. Direction is received by the assigned manager.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  1. Bachelor's degree; and three years' experience in student recruitment, admissions, or sales. equivalent combination of training and experience.
  2. Understanding of ECC's credit (transfer, career-technical, ESL and GED/ABE) and non-credit programs and/or offerings, the courses students would take while enrolled, and how these programs prepare students for transfer and/or employment;
  3. Understanding of the ECC student recruitment and enrollment cycle from inquiry to enrollment to registration; ECC's student services - what is available and how students can access them; Educational requirements and paths for various careers and post-secondary options and how they prepare students differently.
  4. Understanding of 2+2 agreements and communicating such programs to students.
  5. Knowledge of Data collection and analysis.
  6. Basic understanding of financial aid application and awarding processes and Foundation scholarship process, and knowledge of scholarship opportunities and associated scholarship processes.
  7. Knowledge of District middle and high schools' organizational structure and key staff/faculty
  8. Knowledge of educational requirements and paths for various careers;
  9. U.S. higher education system, which includes various institutional types, variety of program offerings, credential ladders (certificate to associates to bachelors, etc.), and basic understanding of transfer articulation processes.
  10. Understanding of new student placement process, helping students understand how to best prepare for placement testing and in some cases what results mean as well as review transcripts from other colleges for satisfaction of minimum competency requirements and/or course prerequisites.
  11. Some knowledge of non-immigrant visas and educational systems of foreign countries to properly advise students with a non-U.S. education.
  12. Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.
  13. Understanding of different student cultural, generational and economic backgrounds.
  14. Understanding of best practices in new student recruitment.
  15. Strong oral presentation skills and ability to present to large and small groups.
  16. Familiarity with and ability to use PC/computer familiarity with Microsoft Office, student information and data management systems, and other technologies and college systems used to enroll and track students and ensure student success.
  17. Ability to relate to prospective students from a wide range of ages, ethnicities, educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
  18. Ability to work well with individuals with diverse backgrounds.
  19. Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  20. Evidence of strong interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and effective oral and written communication/public relations skills.
  21. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  22. Ability to provide excellent service to students and work collaboratively to meet the needs of the department.
  23. Ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed by the department.
  24. Ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals by addressing their specific needs, such as prospective students, parents, high school personnel, and college faculty, staff and administration.
  25. Must possess a valid driver's license and a means of transportation.
  26. Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends when required by the department's needs.

Essential Duties:

  1. Recruitment and Outreach: Meet with students, families, and community members on and off campus and remotely, informing them of educational opportunities at ECC. Advise students of available services and resources at ECC. Develop, build, and maintain long-term relationships with assigned territories and community organizations to meet enrollment goals. Coordinate high school, middle school, home school and community outreach initiatives to meet enrollment goals in collaboration with supervisor, department, and colleagues. Some weekends and evenings will be required for this position, including attendance at assigned off-campus events related to recruitment, outreach services, and college promotion. Develop, coordinate, assist with various recruitment initiatives: campus visit events, Enrolling 101, information sessions, High School Counselor Breakfast, College Night, Middle School Fridays, Experience ECC, academic department open houses, and other events as assigned by supervisor. Act as a liaison with the Elgin Community College Foundation, Financial Aid, college personnel, community members and 509 high schools. Utilize college technology and systems to meet college enrollment goals. Maintains required training, licensure and/or certifications
  2. Admissions and Enrollment Navigation: Provide adequate follow up that will assist a student through the enrollment process. Provide information to successfully move a student through the enrollment process to registration, including but not limited to: the admissions process, submitting transcripts and test scores, understanding of academic programs, placement testing, meeting minimum competencies and prerequisites, new student orientation, and meeting with an academic advisor. Meet with students, families, and community members with inquiries to help navigate them through the enrollment process in-person or virtually. Provide responsive and excellent customer service to students via phone, email, text, chat, and in-person walk-ins. Utilize college technology and systems, student information and data management systems, and other technologies used to enroll and track students to ensure student success.
  3. Collaborate with supervisor and department colleagues to develop service and learning outcomes for recruitment activities. Create and implement methods to measure performance. Analyze results and modify practices to promote effective and efficient use of college resources.
  4. Maintains confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws
  5. Demonstrates sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
  6. Maintains an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
  7. Adheres to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.

Other Duties:
