Description and Requirements

The position is for a Hardware Development Engineer in the Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG), based in Morrisville, North Carolina. This is an exciting role in the ThinkSystem Server Development organization that has a strong focus to be the #1 trusted IT Partner in the Datacenter market. The hardware development engineer will be an integral member of a team responsible for developing innovative and complex server designs to meet customer and business needs. These organic designs provide exposure to the latest technologies from Lenovo and its development partners to meet market demands. The role of this engineer will be focused on the interconnects within the server to ensure next generation ThinkSystem servers are leveraging the latest technology for a quality and cost effective solution for our customers.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering.
  • 5+ years of in-depth experience in x86 architecture and hardware design.
  • 5+ year of experience in EDA schematic design tools for PCB schematic creation, supporting physical design activity and then define/perform low level hardware validation.
  • Ability to triage and resolve complex hardware issues, working seamlessly with other engineers on problem investigation.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's Degree
  • Previous experience in interconnect technologies, DC Power circuit design, and/or High Speed IO bus design.
  • Proficiency in Linux/Windows Operating systems. Experience with OS virtualization.
  • Demonstrated successful hardware design execution on a project with engineering team members located in multiple geographies.
  • Business acumen to engage with various functional teams required to take projects from concept to production.
  • Server design experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for a variety of tasks, potentially including customer engagements, architecture design/feedback, and executive updates.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a team environment and self-directed; passionate about learning new technologies and skills.
