About the role:

Are you ready to be part of a strong Smelter team as the Mechanical Maintenance Crew Leader? This role is responsible for supervising, advising and coordinating the work of the mechanics assigned to work under their direction. Warrick Smelter is looking for a professional to provide safe and efficient execution of assigned work as scheduled, supervise crew time, provide problem analysis for equipment history and appropriate response to emergencies. This may be first or second shift and weekend work will be required.

Key activities:

  • Troubleshoot equipment failures on-shift as well as collect data for further analysis by reliability personnel.
  • Lead safety pre-job reviews as well as observations of work completed on shift.
  • Act to improve the efficiency and quality of the work assigned to their work force and gives timely attention to emergency jobs.
  • Submit accurate reports of work execution activities.
  • Coordinate company policies as they relate to assigned personnel.
  • Maintain close liaison with production, support groups, maintenance planners, engineers and other crew leaders.

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • 2 years of experience in heavy industry (aluminum, steel, mining, paper/pulp, etc.) and performing maintenance/troubleshooting on rotating equipment (pumps, gearboxes etc.
  • Confirmed experience troubleshooting PLCs and hydraulic/pneumatic circuits.
  • Experience using a CMMS and applying process data to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Proven understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems and material conveying systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, codes and standards.
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on other shifts and/or come in early or stay late as needed.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Must be able to work second shift, 3-11pm
