Thomas Jefferson University, home of the Sidney Kimmel Medical College and the Kanbar College of Design, Engineering and Commerce, located in Philadelphia, seeks a visionary and collaborative academic leader to serve as the Universityrsquo;s next President. The President will lead Thomas Jefferson University as it continues to distinguish itself as the model for professions-focused education and a strategic global footprint known for academic and research excellence, transformational education across a diverse undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral and post-doc student body, and meaningful engagement with all of the communities it serves.

Reporting to the Jefferson CEO, Dr. Joseph Cacchione, the President is the highest executive officer of the University. Collaborating closely with the President of Jefferson Health, President and CEO of Jefferson Health Plans and other Jefferson Executive Officers, the University President plays an important leadership role in articulating the University#39;s strategic vision for its third century and realizing its successful implementation. The President also champions Thomas Jefferson University#39;s mission and priorities with its many internal and external stakeholders, including collaborating with the University Provost and Deans to engage with the city of Philadelphia, the state of Pennsylvania, and beyond.

To build on Thomas Jefferson University#39;s upward trajectory, the President must demonstrate an unwavering commitment to academic excellence, research and education, and student success, as well as have a strong track record of leadership success in a large, complex, matrixed organization. The President will also possess the ability to anticipate and respond to market and industry changes as appropriate and necessary for a professions-focused, research university to thrive and succeed well into the future. This requires a strong understanding of and commitment to Jefferson#39;s mission and a deep understanding of the current circumstances facing higher education.

The President will be expected to lead, inspire, and motivate the University community to achieve its academic vision, strategic plan, and corresponding milestones. This will be achieved through building and maintaining strong and collegial relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, alumni, and members of the Thomas Jefferson University governing board. A sincere and abiding commitment to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion are critical.

Successful candidates will have an earned doctorate from an accredited institution along with leadership experienceof a large academic department, college, or other large university role with an extensive set of assets, embedded within a larger, matrixed Enterprise organization with vision and sense of purpose.

We have over 50 outpatient and urgent care centers; ten Magnetreg;-designated hospitals (recognized by the ANCC for nursing excellence); the NCI-designated Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center (one of only 70 in the country and one of only two in the region); and one of the largest faculty-based telehealth networks in the country. In 2021, Jefferson Health became the sole owner of HealthPartners Plan, a not-for-profit health maintenance organization in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
