Under the direction of the Executive Director, Foundation, the Director of Philanthropy is primarily responsible for managing a prospect portfolio and securing private financial support in the form of major and principal gifts defined at $100,000+ for the Foundation. This will include the systematic approach to the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors to Providence Mission Hospital. Additional responsibilities include engaging hospital leadership, physicians, volunteers, grateful patients and key community stakeholders as referral sources and cultivation/solicitation partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Secure financial support by managing a portfolio of major gift prospects through the process of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.
  • Identify and establish relationships with key stakeholders (physicians, grateful patients, volunteers and hospital administrators) in an effort to help identify and engage new prospects, develop strategy, and steward existing donors.
  • Actively participate in Major Gift Officer Meetings, collaborate with colleagues on best practices, share successes, challenges and found solutions, and contribute to establishing and achieving team goals.
  • Actively engage in the community to create awareness of the charitable mission of Providence Mission Hospital and the upcoming $712,000,000 expansion plan.
  • Document required activities and interactions in donor database.
  • Collaborate with Shared Services and Foundation staff to appropriately and meaningfully steward and recognize Major Donors.
  • Represent Foundation in a positive and professional manner at internal and external meetings, events and activities.
  • Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college
  • 5 years of progressive and proven experience developing relationships with high-capacity individuals and securing major gifts
  • Demonstrated experience in the design and implementation of a fund raising strategic plan that met fund raising goals
  • Experience with a fund raising donor management software program
  • Experience with Health Care Philanthropy
  • Advanced interpersonal skills and ability to build trust
  • Analytical, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent skills in communicating persuasively, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to demonstrate a track record of success in securing major gifts
  • Computer literacy in Windows applications
  • Enthusiasm for mission and vision
  • Ability to interact with high-net worth individuals with varied backgrounds, interests and professions
  • Action oriented and results driven.

The amounts listed are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
