Responsibilities:

The Senior Director of Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects leads the strategic implementation of the Lifechanging Research strategy. Responsible for leadership and management of Research Strategy and Business Development and Research Financial Planning, Analysis, and Budgeting team and forming the new Research Projects Office as well as support to the Chief Research Operations Officer (CROO) and Research Leadership. The Senior Director of Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects works with the Research executives including the Chief Research Operations Officer and Chief Scientific Officer to implement the research strategies as part of the overall health system strategy. As part of the strategy implementation, this role is responsible for change management and the tracking of progress and metrics to the goals of the strategic plan for research. The Sr. Director, Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects thinks strategically about Research Division financial performance, identifying trends and making recommendations to reach divisional financial goals. The role is accountable for directing, organizing, planning and evaluating the annual budget process and ongoing management of the Research Division budget. The role is accountable for long-range financial planning and communicating the department's budgetary needs to the CFO and other finance leaders in the organization. The role is responsible for understanding emerging industry trends to inform pro forma financial projections. The Sr. Director, Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects is an expert on Research finance including the Uniform Guidance and accounting practices and the implications for the Research Division and ensures compliance across the department. The Sr. Director, Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects has excellent working knowledge of project and portfolio management best practices and engages with project management resources across Seattle Children's. The Sr. Director, Research Strategy, Financial Planning, and Projects is committed to operational excellence and embodies Seattle Children's leadership values.

Requirements:

Required Education/Experience:

  • * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or research administration-related field.
    * 10 years of progressive experience in strategy development and implementation, financial management/planning, and project and program management.
    * 5 years of supervisory experience including strategy development and implementation, finance, and program management.


Preferred:

  • * MBA or master's degree in healthcare administration or research administration
  • * CPA and/or project management professional certification
  • * Experience in healthcare and research
    • * Extensive knowledge of financial GAAP grants financial management, Uniform Guidance, and research financial industry best practices.
    • * Experience building research annual and long-range planning budgets and ongoing forecasts to support business decisions.
  • * Experience using ERP system.
  • * Progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, business development.
  • * 5 - 7 years of experience in Program and Project Management.
Min to Max Hourly Salary: $94.70 - $142.05 /hr Min to Max Annual Salary: $196,977.00 - $295,466.00 /yr Salary Information:

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
