Sentara Heart Hospital located on the campus of Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia is seeking a RN, Cardiac Quality Improvement Coordinator!

This position is Full Time Days

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is one of just five Level1 trauma centers in Virginia, home to the Nightingale Regional Air Ambulance and the region's first Magnet hospital and nationally ranked heart program at the Sentara Heart Hospital. The hospital sits on the Eastern Virginia Medical Campus which serves as the primary teaching institution. Sentara Norfolk General and the Heart Hospital offers Transplant Services: Heart, Kidney and Pancreas. We are a Certified Stroke Center and the only Level 3 Epilepsy Center in the area.

Responsibilities:

  • Quality Improvement Coordinator will provide hospital-based compliance, quality, and program management/support to Cardiac program line:
    • Interventional & Electrophysiology Cardiology
  • Leads quality management activities; evaluate outcomes, interventions, interprets data and performance improvement.
  • Medical chart and audit review, data collection and analysis to evaluate quality issues and makes process improvement recommendations.
  • Establish clinical quality indicators and quality plans for the service line.
  • Engages and collaborates daily with all cardiac specialty physicians and clinical teams.
  • Identifies quality care events, summaries findings, and provides feedback.
  • Generate monthly statistical reports to relay outcome data for the cardiac service line. Presents data and prepares presentations for leadership.
  • Good knowledge of cardiovascular care - heart disease.
  • Familiarity of cardiac registries and databases
  • Good experience with MS Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of CMS Star Rating, Leapfrog Safety, and Quality Metrics on a state and national basis.
  • Adheres to quality and safety standards, understands accreditation, regulatory and federal and state standards.

Education/Experience/Licensure:

RN License

BSN is required.

3 years of quality experience preferred.

EPIC
Good Cardiac Nursing experience required. EP or Interventional Cardiology ideal.

Job Summary

The Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for providing project management and facilitation, as well as, clinical oversight and support for the development, coordination, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement medical staff performance improvement and patient safety initiatives. This includes organizing relevant task forces, review of evidenced based literature/benchmarks, establishment of indicators for monitoring and evaluation of quality and appropriateness of care, continuous improvement, and achieving targeted goals as well as medical record review, occurrence/complaint investigation and tracking/trending medical staff performance.

3 or more years of current experience in QI related activities preferred. Experience in a clinical area of an acute care facility with demonstrated leadership, teaching and QI/PI facilitation skills preferred. Knowledge and understanding of regulatory and accreditation agency standards preferred.

Must be able to link the clinical effectiveness and clinical informatics arenas. Requires local travel and use of personal automobile. Requires flexibility in work schedule.

N-4YR - RN-Bachelor's Level Degree (Required)
