OxyChem is hiring at the landmark STRATOS Direct Air Capture facility in the Permian Basin, seeking those who can apply their technical, managerial, process and safety experience to an important new frontier industry. Direct Air Capture uses proven industrial processes to remove carbon dioxide (CO2) directly from ambient air. This CO2 can then be stored safely and securely underground or used to make things we all need in everyday life. These facilities are important because they help enable companies in hard-to-abate industries to reach their global climate targets.

STRATOS is on track to become the world's largest Direct Air Capture facility. Currently under construction, it is designed to capture up to 500,00 tons of atmospheric CO2 annually and is expected to be commercially operational in mid-2025. Oxy subsidiary 1PointFive will own the facility, with OxyChem responsible for its operation and maintenance.

Description

As the Shift Supervisor at our Direct Air Capture facility in Notrees, TX you will:

  • Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority
  • Ensure consistency of operation, application of policies/procedures, and accountability across all shifts for employees working in the assigned unit
  • Develop new & enhance existing management systems and procedures to quantify and compare operating performance with established standards and assures compliance with such standards
  • Provide direction to the process technicians on key parameters, plant operating instructions, preparation of equipment for maintenance, process troubleshooting, operating plans, and safety issues
  • Responsible for the day-to-day shift operations in the facility. Accountable for the safety & environmental performance, product quality, production output, housekeeping and cost management
  • Lead and support the policies and objectives of the plant management team
  • Coordinate with the maintenance and process supervisors to ensure proper equipment is prepared for maintenance activities
  • Actively manage all training activities on assigned shift to increase the fundamental knowledge of the plant's operations for all employees
  • Ensure adequate resources are available to operate the shift within established guidelines to ensure an efficient plant operation.
  • Provide effective leadership to accomplish short and long-term goals and maintain documented records of employees' performance

Qualifications
  • High School or Equivalent
  • 5+ years plant operations experience or equivalent
  • Demonstrated leadership and team-building skills
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and good working knowledge of SAP
  • Ability to read, write and speak in English
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis
  • Walking, bending, stooping is required
  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator and be able to respond to visual and audible alarms
