Primary Job Responsibility:

Position is responsible for fabricating, installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing plant process pump, piping and rotating equipment. This includes disasembling, assembling, and installing machinery including testing for proper operation and function; identifying and repairing problematic parts and equipment including running tests, making repairs, and installing equipment; dismantling older machines and repairing or replacing with new equipment; lubrication; using machinery or equipment to fabricate components, rig, and move mechanical parts. Work at elevated heights. Work in a safe manner, maintain a clean and neat work area, and always follow site policies and procedures.

Description of Job Duties:

Millwright Technician duties will include but may not be limited to the following list of routine craft responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection and repairs on process equipment including fans, pumps, gearboxes, compressors, turbines, motors, couplings, piping, valves, gear operated actuators, conveyor belts, hoists, slings, hooks, sheaves, filters. This includes following the permit process, looking up parts for plant equipment on computer systems, accessing SDS information, and inputting work orders into the CMMS system.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting techniques to solve machine issues.
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks such as lubrication, alignments, equipment inspections, mechanical inspections of plant equipment.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical technical skills to effectively read documents such as specifications, machine manuals, and blueprints.
  • Accurate documentation of all work performed.
  • Responsible for emergency callouts and occasional on-call duty.

Required Knowledge / Skills / Experience:

  • High School Diploma
  • 5+ years craft experience in the Petrochemical/refining industry is required
  • Maintenance of Petrochemical/Refining PSM piping systems
  • Mechanical aptitude working with wrenches, hammers, operating forklifts, cranes, and other similar equipment.
  • Use of measuring tools, hand tools, lathes, drills, and associated shop equipment.
  • Good rigging skills, fork truck and mobile crane and man lift skills and certifications.
  • Ability to interact with other craft disciplines to complete daily assignments.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of identifying and repairing problematic parts and equipment including running tests, making repairs, and installing equipment

Working Conditions:

  • Frequent lifting, bending, twisting, stooping is required as part of this position. More than 33% of work time may be spent standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift and carry a weight of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a schedule of four 10-hour days per week plus occasional overtime.
