The Surgical Technician, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, is responsible for the direct and indirect care and safety of the perioperative patient in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:

1. Graduate of School of Surgical Technology.

2. Surgical Technology Certification required within 12 months of hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

EXPERIENCE:

1. Surgical experience preferred.

1. Performs direct and indirect patient care.

2. Efficiently functions as a member of the surgical team by demonstrating competence in delivery of care and contributing to departmental efficiency.

3. Assures availability of necessary instruments, equipment and supplies prior to cases to ensure efficient operations of department.

4. Maintains good interpersonal relationships and communication skills.

5. Retrieve supplies from Pyxis supply cabinets and follow patient charging procedure.
