Research Assistant Professor – Log #23-117
Institute for Biomedical Sciences
Georgia State University

Roles and responsibilities for the Research Assistant Professor position will include:
  • Supervision of trainees and their ongoing research projects.
  • Conducting sponsored research on the pathogenesis of and vaccine development against Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
  • Laboratory maintenance including overseeing hourly workers, ordering, receiving and equipment maintenance.
  • Teaching of 1-2 courses per year to IBMS students.

Qualifications required for the position:
  • PHD in microbiology plus 5 years relevant postdoctoral fellow experience.
  • Experience with cultivating and genetically modifying the pathogen, Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
  • Experience conducting minimum inhibitory concentration experiments with Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
  • Experience with conducting invasion and intracellular replication experiments with Neisseria gonorrhoeae.
  • Experience with NIH budgets and purchasing at Georgia State University.
  • Experience with grant writing and compliance support including monitoring of required training, animal and human subjects’ protection compliance.
  • Experience with construction and detection of genetic reporters with fluorescent readouts.
  • Experience with protein production and purification at large scale for vaccination purposes.
